Here are some of todays rumors since I was unable to post earlier.
*-> The San Jose Sharks have told Evgeni Nabokov that they will go separate ways come July 1st. The long time Shark will no longer be needed in San Jose as the Sharks are expected to go after one of the many available goalies this summer. Nabokov has been linked to Philly and Tampa Bay with the Flyers being the more realistic choice. The Sharks will take the team in a different direction. Interesting news, I've always like Nabokov and to be honest this years crop of goalies isn't exactly exciting. Lots of names but who really is better than Nabokov?
*-> Defenseman and New Jersey Devil has signed a deal to play in the KHL today. He signed a 1 year 1 million dollar deal with Avangard Omsk.
*-> Another KHL defection today as well. Washington Capital Chris Bourque has signed a 1 year deal with HK Atlant. The terms of the deal were undisclosed.
*-> The Pittsburgh Penguins are actively shopping Sergei Gonchar rights now that it looks like they will not be able to come to a deal with the Russian puck mover. Several reports still are saying there is a chance they'll resign him still but are taking measures incase they lose him. The San Jose Sharks are interested in the aging blue liner and I also hear Washington but both teams would like confirmation they can sign him before pulling the trigger.

Anyone who wins in the playoffs... No need to pay a goalie 6M+ when the other 3 goalies who stepped up in the playoffs and got their teams to the conference finals were all paid less than half that number.... combined! That's too much cap for a Sharks team that looked too soft on the back end and didn't have enough in the way of secondary scoring. Wilson should make a pitch for Hamhuis or Volchy, sign a cheap 'tender and then look for a centre for Setoguchi.

Nabokov is the best caliber goalie out there other than maybe Marty Turco whose age overshadows his play. Let's look at the free agent goalies out there. Michael Leighton who was lucky to even have had a chance to play in Philly and wouldn't have if it wasn't for injuries. Jose Theodore who also has struggled in the playoffs and well struggles with consistency in general. Chris Mason is a pretty decent goalie but has no deep playoff experience really. Dan Ellis may be the best out of the rest but I wouldn't downgrade if your San Jose and its a must win a cup soon situation. Nabokov for sure has had playoff issues but so has the rest of his team. His performance wasn't even that bad. Big Joe Thorntons another struggling playoff performer but any team would take him in a heartbeat. Its a losing culture in San Jose in the post season. My thought is the Sharks are gunna pass on a good option and end up in the shuffle this summer and have to settle and sign another goalie for 3 to 4 mil to secure their choice. I don't blame the Sharks for a change but at least have a better option because there's too many teams and not enough quality.
