Ice Scoopz: Friday Afternoon

*-> A minor trade to report, the St. Louis Blues have traded former Ottawa 67 Julian Talbot to the Colorado Avalanche for minor leaguer TJ Hensick. Two minor leaguers change scenery.

*-> The Ottawa Senators have finally come to terms with Roman Wick of Kloten in the Swiss league. The terms were unannounced but it's rumored to be a 2 year deal.

*-> The Columbus Blue Jackets look to be looking at adding depth via free agency instead of going the trade route. The team has just about 10 mil for next season. So another Jason Spezza rumor shot down. The Jackets are still rumored to be shopping there 1st rounder however.

*-> The Pittsburgh Penguins and Sergei Gonchar are reportedly very close to a contract extension although talks have been stalled over the amount of years requested by Gonchar. The Russian defenseman is reportedly seeking a 3 year deal but the Penguins would only agree on a 1 year deal. The Penguins have concern over locking themselves into a long term deal as Gonchars age is a major factor. Gonchar has also said he'd take a hometown discount. The two party's are expected to get a deal done but the deadline is looming and the Pens may be forced to give up on Gonchar and turn their interests to a cheaper younger solution.
