Ice Scoopz: Tuesday Afternoon

*-> Paul Martin of the New Jersey Devil's is set to hit the market in 2 days and the St. Louis Blues are expected to lead the chase for his services. The Vancouver Canucks are also rumored to be interested in the blueliner. Next to Dan Hamhuis and Sergei Gonchar, Martin should attract the third most interest and also a big pay raise. Devil's have yet to give up on Paul Martin but talks arn't going as smoothly as they would like. Which each day that passes it looks more and more like Martin will be in a new sweater come July 1st.

*-> Buffalo could also be after Paul Martin July 1st after it appears atleast one of their two UFA defenseman will test the waters. Both Henrik Tallinder and Tony Lydman appear to be ready to goto the wire with the Sabres. Tallinder appears to be the closer of the two but still hasn't ruled out July 1st. Lydman has told the buffalo media he'd like to remain in Buffalo as well but other reports indicate otherwise.

*-> The Montreal Canadiens have indeed signed Benoit Poulliot to a deal. The deal appears to be worth 1.37$ million for just one season. Another weird deal for the Habs and their passion for signing players to only one year deals when they are already in uniform then shelling out long term deals to any free agent out there come July 1st.
