*-> Peter Chiarelli of the Boston Bruins has told the Boston media he has received several offers for Boston's 1st round draft pick for this years draft. Chiarelli went on to say that while he has recieved offers he has only received one major offer worth considering although the Bruins are not looking to trade the pick. Chiarelli also laughed off the trade rumors of Jason Spezza heading to the B's. There is absolutely no truth to the rumor and he claims he has not spoken to Bryan Murray since last season. There you go Spezza fans another rumor shot down.
*-> Steve Yzerman the new Tampa Bay Lightning GM said today that Martin St. Louis isn't going anywhere and expects St. Louis to play an important part of the Bolts future. St. Louis has said in the past before he doesn't plan on going anywhere and enjoys playing in Tampa. Kiss Bruce Garrioch's rumor goodbye based on this combined with the fact that Carey Price stays by default now that Halak is gone.
*-> Speaking of Montreal, the Canadians are rumored to be interested in Martin Biron for next season. Biron is expected to attract interest this summer as he's set to hit the free agent market. Montreal is now without a back-up goalie unless Cedrick Desgardens is makes a major impact in training camp this spring. Biron could be a good fit and is a good teamate to push Price and provide insurance for the Habs. I've also heard the Kings and the Thrashers interested as well.

Yzerman is nothing if not class.
Since he's been in TBay, he's gone out of his way at least twice to identify Lecavalier, St Louis, Stamkos and Hedman as the core he will try to build around.
He would not have done that, named them outright, and then traded them away immediately after, particularly guys like Vinny and Marty that have done so much for the Lightning, similar in many ways to what Yzerman did for the 'Wings. He will value that and respect it.
But a player like Malone is a different matter.
Expect Yzerman to revamp the scouting dept and focus on the draft and player development. And expect Downie to be a different player now that Yzerman is running things. In my memory, no captain managed his team better.

Very very true. However I dunno if I'd want downie to be a different player he plays the role perfectly and was highly effective doing it.
