Ice Scoopz: Tuesday Afternoon

*-> Niklas Lidstrom has resigned to a 1 year deal with the Detroit Red Wings. Lidstrom will make 6 million dollars next season and it is believed that he signed a 1 year deal as he may decide to hang em up after next season. His 6 mil is a decrease from his previous salary of 7.5 million.

*-> Brian Burke of the Toronto Maple Leafs has told the Toronto media today he has had several offers for defenseman Tomas Kaberle whose no trade clause ends briefly from July 1st to August 15. Burke also told Hockey Central At Noon that the deals were in place. The rumors are still swirling to where Kaberle may end up and which 2 teams it may be. So far the New Jersey Devils, Philly Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes, Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars and the New York Islanders has been mentioned in the rumor mill. Columbus is my best guess as they desperately need a top pairing defenseman and Toronto would love their 1st. Columbus has also stated they'd shop their pick if the return was a key piece. The Devils are also in need of a solid d as well so its likely they could be in the mix as well but do not have much to part with after the Kovalchuk deal. You should disregard any Philly deal as they are already cap stuck and unless the Leafs get a player like James Van RymsDyk and the Flyers have a suitor for ether Briere or Gagne it won't happen. While Burke has said he has had offers he also said that he would only take one if it made sense for the team. He doesn't feel he has to trade Kaberle. Burkes playing his cards right with the media and I think he actually wants and intends to trade him.
