A few quick ones to get going with, keep up the posting.
*-> The Nashville Predators have told defenseman Denis Grebeshkov they will not qualify him at all. The Preds plan to shop his rights today as they've decided he no longer fits into their future plans. Several teams have inquired about Grebeshkov but no major offers yet. He's expecting a raise and some are saying he could look to the KHL for a payday.
*-> I'm hearing the rumors of Sheldon Souray being swapped for Jonathon Cheechoo could be a real deal. Bryan Murray reportedly inquired mid season about Souray but when he went down to injury all interest vanished. It makes sense this kind of swap, it rid the Oilers of a major distraction and disgruntled player in Souray. Ottawa would rather have a useful cap hit helping out their defense. Ottawas not the only team in on Souray though as the Buffalo Sabres have been rumored and the Washington Capitals have been linked throughout the season. A rumor keeps resurfacing with the Oilers trading a touted prospect and Sheldon Souray for the enigmatic Alexander Semin. The New Jersey Devils are rumored to be interested but need the Oilers to place him on reentry waivers.
*-> The Detroit Red Wings have signed undrafted and free agent Russian Evgeny Ryasensky to a 2 way deal. Terms were disclosed but he's expected to see mostly AHL time next season. Ryasensky played last season for Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk of the KHL.
I wanna hear from you Sens fans if you think the Sens should trade Jason Spezza or not and what your ideal you guys would want back in return. Post your ideas on the forum for discussion.

Scoopz,
This is exactly what came to me last night, proving my theory that clarity of thought comes with drinking good Scotch...
Souray has two years left at $5.4M/yr and a buyout of Cheechoo would cost the Sens more than $1.1M/yr for the next two years against the Cap. Effectively the Sens would have Souray at a Cap hit of $4.3M per year if they sent Cheech the other way while the Oil would save the same amount agains the Cap assuming they bought Cheech out.
The very idea of trading Spezza is incompatible with intelligent thought...that's why the Chartered Account and Fabian Skanks deserved to be short for discussing it on your message boards.

Jalen,
My accounting skills tell me that by shipping Cheechoo to the Oilers, the Sens would have given away 3M and taken back 5.4 which makes a 2.4M hit to their current cap situation, no? I like the idea though, be nice to have his shot and Karlsson's breaking bones in front of the other team's net (though with our luck it will probably be Michalek).
Spezza isn't going anywhere, as I've steadfastly maintained while analyzing possible returns if Murray traded him. The hitch is that the returns all suck, which is why we'll happily have him back as our first line centre scoring 80-100 points a season for the next 5 years. The fans and media will sing a different tune when Alfredsson's production decreases and Spezza is the only one putting up points. He just had a cold start last year and injury issues. Kind of like how Jalen plays all the time.

Chartered Accountant,
Your math sucks, I'm changing your name to Crass Ass...
We're talking about cap hits, so follow along carefully.
Cheechoo has one year remaining at $3.5M, so the Sens can buy him at at two-thirds (call it $2.2M to keep it easy and allow you to follow along) and take the hit over the next two years - $1.1M/yr for each of the next two years againts the cap - dead money.
Souray has two years left on his deal at $5.4M/yr so if Edmonton takes Cheechoo in trade, saving the Sens his buyout and then buying him out themselves, the Sens will pick up Souray's cap hit of $5.4M/yr while saving the cap hit on Cheechoo's buyout of $1.1M/yr...a net cost to the cap of adding Souray of $4.3M...
As a player, I'd put up better numbers than Heatley if my centreman had a little more Spezz in him and a lot less Kaigorodov...
