Trade! Montreal -> New Jersey

*-> Devante Smith Pelle was indeed moved to the New Jersey Devils for Stephane Matteau as reported by TSN

Trade Deadline 2016: 3:30pm

*-> The Los Angeles Kings are another team that are out.

*-> The Predators have a minor league deal coming possibly with Chicago.

Trade Deadline 2016: 3:28pm

*-> The Flyers have also announced they have nothing to announce today.

This is a boring finish to the deadline folks!

*-> The Canucks, Oilers and Canadiens all have yet to announce they threw in the towel today.

*-> The San Jose Sharks are officially done.

*-> The Penguins, Ducks but have deals in place a waiting an official NHL call.

Trade! Islanders -> Colorado

*-> The Islanders have acquired Marc Andre Cliche from the Colorado Avs for Taylor Beck.

Trade Deadline 2016: 3:20pm

*-> After Ottawa's two deals the Sens are done dealing for the day, no moves after the deadline.

*-> Columbus have announced that they made no deals today.  The Kirby Rychel situation was due to the Blue Jackets wanting Rychel to play in the AHL for the playoffs.

Trade! Ottawa -> Minnesota

*-> The Ottawa Senators have acquired Michael Karanen from the Minnesota Wild for Connor Allen.

Trade! New Jersey -> Boston

*-> The Bruins have also acquired Lee Stempniak from the Devils for unknown return.

Update **-> The Bruins have reportedly sent a 2nd in 2016 and another pick and prospect Anthony Camara.

Trade! Boston to Carolina

*-> It's been confirmed the Bruins have dealt for defenseman John Michael Liles.  So much for that press release leak! RDS called it.

Update **-> The Bruins have sent a 3rd in 2016 and a 5th in 2017.

Trade Deadline 2016: 3:13pm

*-> The situation in Boston is still a mess, several outlets reporting they dealt for John Micheal Liles while most are saying there has been no deals from Boston and a press release sent to season ticket holders indicating such.

Trade Deadline 2016: 3:12pm

*-> The St. Louis Blues have confirmed their done for the day.

*-> The Flames have dealt David Jones it's reported, I'm hearing Minnesota could be the potential suitor.

*-> The Winnipeg Jets haven't made a move today they have announced.

Trade Deadline 2016: 3:08pm

*-> The Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks both have confirmed they did not acquire Dan Hamhuis of Vancouver.

*-> TSN is reporting that Ottawa moved Shane Prince to the Islanders for a 3rd round pick.

Trade Deadline 2016: 3:06pm

*-> Lots of conflicting reports on the Bruins, RDS is reporting that they have traded for John Michael Liles while a press release has leaked saying the Bruins have stood pat today as a deal could not be had and Loui Eriksson retained.

*-> Jonathan Drouin has not been moved today the Lightning have told the press.

Trade Deadline 2016: 3:00pm

*-> Pierre Lebrun has said the Dallas Stars and the Chicago Blackhawks have made a last minute push for Dan Hamhuis.

*-> Pierre LeBrun has also tweeted that the Bruins may have made a late push for Carolina's John Michael Liles.

*-> The Detroit Red Wings have announced they have stood pat.

Trade Deadline 2016: 2:55pm

*-> The Florida Panthers appear to be done dealing according to George Richards of the Miami Herald.

*-> The time is running out for the Bruins.  They may have thrown in the towel on shopping for a defenseman and to move out pending UFA Loui Eriksson.

*-> Chicago has talked to Vancouver today it's been confirmed. That's one to keep an eye on for sure.

Trade Deadline 2016: 2:50pm

*-> Bostons Loui Eriksson has yet to be asked to waive his no trade clause Darren Dreger has reported.  Still a few teams making offers.

*-> A player many pundits have yet to mention today is Travis Hamonic of the Islanders.  It appears a deal for him would have to happen this summer, but with Kris Russell now gone the Flames may like to add a similar player in Hamonic but that would most likely hinge on Islanders bringing in another defenseman as a replacement.

*-> The hope for Tampa to trade Drouin is fading, Stevie Y seams quite content on waiting out the situation for find the best possbile deal. 10 minutes left it seams unlikely.

Trade Deadline 2016: 2:42pm

*-> Lots of quiet teams out there but the Canadian teams a part from Calgary have been silent.  Montreal and Ottawa weren't exactly expected to make a splash but there were rumors that the Canadiens were looking to make more of a shake up and were listening to offers from around the league.  Eller is off the market as reported but what about Emelin? Does the Candiens injuries to their back end effect this.  I've seen a few rumors surrounding Dvante Smith-Pelle in the last hour but other than that silence.

*-> The Edmonton Oilers seam content to wait for the draft to move Nail Yakupov despite the interest but a team could surprise in the next 30 minutes.

*-> Vancouver has to do something with Hamhuis and he's expected to be the next big name to drop.  Radim Vrbata was at practice this morning but he's still a likely candidate to be moved.

*-> The Dallas Stars remain the contender for Hamhuis.

*-> Toronto after a furious week and slowed to a crawl today.  Everyone around the league are saying they really killed the market for Parenteau but trying to ask too much and force a deal.

*-> What are the devil's doing with Lee Stempniak? That's still a decent size fish to be caught by a contender.  The Devils may have decided to keep him for a late push.

*-> The Bruins have reportedly spoken to the Blue Jackets. Hartnell a Boston style player? or Fedor Tyutin to help their defensive woes?

*-> Florida may not be done dealing for a forward, the cheap return on Pirri might have been a roster move.

Trade! Florida -> Anaheim

*-> Anaheim has indeed picked up a lesser forward for their upcoming run in Florida's Brandon Pirri.  The Ducks only spend a 6th round pick on him which is a steal for the Ducks.

So much the the rumors for the Panthers having a 2nd round pick or a package of picks for Pirri!

Trade Deadline 2016: 2:20pm

*-> It appears the Aves may be done dealing today as they've hit their 50 contract maximum and unless they move a body for body they wont be doing anything more.

*-> The Wild are expected to make a follow up response to their rivals and closest competition they're looking to pass.  But that being said other than the brief Drouin rumors it's been tumble weeds over there.

Trade Deadline 2016: 2:05pm

It's starting to pick up this afternoon! Now that Kris Russell and Mikkel Boedker have dropped the domino effect should start taking place.

*-> Boston is going hard for Dan Hamhuis but TSN is reporting he isn't keen to waive his no trade clause to go to the East and seams to have his heart set on playing for a contender in the West. It's also good to note that Hamhuis has indeed had a conversation with the Vancouver brass about returning in the summer if the price is right. Whether or not that effects his suitors that is yet to be seen.

*-> TSN is also reporting that Dallas is still pushing as well for Dan Hamhuis. I'm also hearing the Capitals and the Penguins are still very much in there.

*-> Boston is still listening to offers for Eriksson so thise could get interesting for the Bruins and their fanbase as it's less than an hour to go.

*-> The Flyers have reportedly been in talks with the Lightning in regards to Drouin.

*-> The Islanders may have turned their attention away from the Leafs and Parenteau to a defenseman now.

*-> The Ducks are reportedly going smaller in terms of adding a skilled forward.  rumors have them avoiding the big name fish some far and kicking tires at a lesser player with a much lesser cost. But still all too quiet for a team looking to compete.

*-> Calgary isn't done dealing many are saying....

Trade! New Jersey -> Colorado

Trade! Another one down, the Colorado Avalanche have traded for Eric Gelinas of the New Jersey Devils.

Update **-> A 3rd round in 2017 is the return for the New Jersey Devils.

Trade! Dallas-> Calgary

*-> TSN's Pierre LeBrun has broke the news that Dallas has indeed traded for Calgary's Kris Russell.  Once again the return isn't known.

Update **-> Its being reported by Mike Heika that the return is a conditional 2nd round pick that turns into a 1st if the Stars make the Western Conference Finals, Jyrki Jokipakka and prospect Brett Pollock.

Trade Deadline 2016: 1:35pm

*-> More on Kirby Rychel, reports are now surfacing that the two sides haven't seen eye to eye all year so this is most likely a deal.  Yet another disgruntled Blue Jacket player it appears which is starting to be alarming for the organization.

*-> While on the Blue Jackets both Fedor Tyutin and Scott Hartnell both practiced this morning.

*-> The Flyers media has confirmed that Mark Streit is being shopped heavily by Philly.

*-> The Avalanche are still looking heavily at a defenseman, Joe Sakic is expecting to make a big push which is risky with the Wild on their tail.  So far however not much has been given up for their rental in Boedker lets see if Sakic can pull off another one.

*-> The Leafs are telling teams their willing to eat some cap space for the right price, I keep hearing Bryan Bickells name over and over.

Well it appears the second most coveted forward Mikkel Boedker has dropped so hopefully this gets the ball rolling with the rest. I expect some teams to revisit Parenteau and McGinn now. I'm shocked that their hasn't been any action out of Anaheim and Dallas who really have to do something to keep up with Chicago.

Trade! Colorado -> Arizona

*-> Just as I type the rumor, TSN has announced that Mikkel Boedker has been traded to the Avalanche. The return isn't known yet I'm guessing it's a 2nd round pick and Mikhail Grigorenko or Joey Hishon.

**-> It looks like I was way off! Joe Sakic has found a loophole and managed to move a second round pick without even moving one technically.  The Coyotes have traded for Connor Bleakley who it looks like the Coyotes will allow back to enter the draft to take the compensation, plus they acquire prospect Kyle Wood and forward Alex Tanguay.

Trade Deadline 2016: 1:10pm

*-> It's rumored that Kirby Rychel has been told he will be traded today despite the AHL rumors.  It's just the waiting game I guess.

*-> Mikkel Boedker is attracting interest from the Colorado Avalanche and the Minnesota Wild. The asking price is still up there.

*-> I'm hearing that the Wild are seriously in the mix along with Ottawa still for Tampa Bay's Jonathan Drouin.

*-> Montreal has reportedly contacted the Edmonton Oilers in regards to Nail Yakupov.  Alex Galchenyuk has chemistry with Yakupov dating back to their Sarnia Sting days. Many feel a change of scenery and the chance to be the guy might bring Yakupov to the next level.  The Canadiens are indeed searching for an offensive minded RW.

*-> It's been reported that the New York Rangers have told Keith Yandle he will remain a Ranger till at least the end of the season not that many saw it any other way since Yandle has been their best d-man.

*-> The Penguins are close to a deal, it's looking like their going to make a move on one of the top d-men available.

*->  Toronto might have to lower their price on Parenteau as reports have most of their suitors turning away. The Islanders remain a suitor but are waiting for the price drop. One GM has reported used his injury status as a possible leverage.

*-> The New Jersey Devils have told the media they wont make a rental deal.

Trade! Carolina -> Chicago

*-> A small deal the Carolina Hurricanes have reacquired Dennis Robertson from the Chicago Blackhawks for Drew MacIntyre.

Yay something but nothing major or important no offense to the two involved.

Trade Deadline 2016: 12:55pm

*-> Some news more than a trade rumor but still news on a slow day like today is better than silence. Ilya Kovalchuk's return to the NHL seams more likely now as his agent has confirmed to talking to one GM as a possible situation. Daly of the NHL has maintained it's a "special" case and they'll get to those roads when they have to cross them.  The league rule states that New Jersey technically owns his rights since he retired there and if he sits out the year the Devils could allow him to return to the league.  his other option and since he played in Europe this season he'd have to pass through waivers or gain consent from the rest of the league. Section 8.7 of the the collective bargaining agreement states "the club on whose voluntarily retired list a player's name has been registered may transfer his name back on its reserve list at any time after the expiry of one year from the date of registration on the voluntarily retired list by filing any currently valid contract, option or try-out." Which pretty much means he can return to the Devils since he retired in 2011.  This all comes after Kovalchuk was disaplined and sent home from his KHL club SKA St. Petersburg.   He could add some punch to the Devils line up or they could attempt to bring him back if this loop hole is correct and deal him. all this would have to happen in the offseason.

*-> The Coyotes are asking a first and a conditional pick if Mikkal Boedker gets resigned it's rumored.

*-> Some rumblings online the Oilers could be interested in Loui Eriksson if they could get some hope he'd resign first.  Some have gone as far as saying that Jordan Eberle could be the return,  I doubt it in my opinion however and this is just a report not something I endorse or believe before I get anger Edmonton fan e-mails.

*-> The Ducks have reportedly been in conversation with the Buffalo Sabres this past week.  Buffalo Scouts were seen taking in the Los Angeles Anaheim game.

*-> Pierre LeBrun has reported despite contradicting reports that the Washington Capitals have kicked tires on Dan Hamhuis.

*-> It's looking more and more likely that Florida's Brandon Pirri will be dealt today.

*-> The Stars are still appear to be looking at Dan Hamhuis, it appears to be the likely destination as both parties want the other.

Trade Deadline 2016: 12:15pm

*-> Avalanche fans could be in for some excitement today as it's heavily rumored that Colorado will at least attempt to make a move.  The Aves would love to add a depth defenseman. Some have them linked to formed Av John Michael-Liles of Carolina as a cheap upgrade.

*-> A few waiver claims to mention:
Montreal has claimed Mike Brown off the San Jose Sharks
Edmonton has claimed Adam Cracknell off the Vancouver Canucks and Adam Pardy off the Winnipeg Jets
Reto Berra, Alex Stalock, Zac Rinaldo and Rene Bourque have all cleared waivers.

It appears that Rene Bourque will not being going anywhere most likely now that he's cleared.

*-> TSN is questioning the addition for the Habs of Mike Brown, Bob McKenzie has hinted there could be a move to come for the Canadiens since they have plenty of depth forwards. It would have made more sense for the Canadiens to have claimed Adam Pardy to address their weakened defense in my opinion and if they needed an enforcer they have John Scott in the minors.

*-> Minnesota continues to tell teams that Jonas Brodin isn't available, taking lots of calls on him....

Trade Deadline 2016: 11:25am

*-> Montreal has reportedly told Lars Eller he isn't being moved today his agent has confirmed.

*-> Minnesota is still denying that Jonas Brodin is on the block, it seams more likely at this point that Matt Dumba is the odd man out.

*-> It looks like Columbus may have just dealt Kirby Rychel as he's been pulled out of practice.  Heard several teams were inquiring this morning about him.

Trade Deadline 2016: 11:00am

*-> Minnesota could be in on the affordable Jamie McGinn it's been rumored as the asking prices for some of the other big names are too high.  The Wild are rumored to be willing to wait out the Sabres asking price of a 2nd and wait till it comes down to a mid level pick. Minny is telling teams the offer has to be an impact deal for Brodin.

*-> Vancouver were rumored to have trying to package Radim Vrbata and Dan Hamhuis but there weren't any high interest suitors for both.

*-> Chicago appears to be done unless they find a really attractive non rental deal or a Brian Bickell dump.

*-> Boston is dangling Seth Griffith as potential bait to land a d-man.

*-> Ottawa Senators are reportedly willing to listen to other teams looking at moving centers. TSN has speculated that the Sens could be interested in Florida's Brandon Pirri. Several teams in the West have reportedly offered a 2nd round pick according to Gary Lawless. Rangers were interested before the Staal deal. Anaheim and the Oilers remain the leading suitors however.

*-> The Leafs are expecting that Grabner remains with the team after the deadline due to the lack of interest in the speedy forward. They'll still continue to shop him however.

*-> Teams are calling on Columbus's Scott Hartnell but still no official word on him waiving his no trade clause.

*-> Winnipeg would like to move Matt Halischuk and Adam Pardy according to the Sun.

*-> The New York Islanders are telling teams they will not move Kyle Okposo and will attempt to resign him.

*-> Teams are still waiting for the prices to go down on the remaining Toronto Maple Leafs.

Still all quiet this morning, as I said earlier I expect it to be a fairly slow day so be patient.

Trade Deadline 2016: 10:20am

*-> According to reports the Minnesota Wild remains in the hunt for Jonathan Drouin especially since the Wild have two young defenseman in Matt Dumba, and Jonas Brodin for any package. The Wild weren't expected to make a big deal today given their cap space and lack of picks at the next two drafts but with two young defensmen they might be able to swing something.

*-> The Oilers have kicked tires on Florida's Brandon Pirri according to Elliotte Friedman. The Panthers have admitted to shopping the injured Pirri due to him being in an out of the line up most of the season.

*-> The Islanders have walked away from discussions with the Leafs over the price of P.A Parenteau.

*-> Anaheim has shown interest in the days leading up to the deadline in Radim Vrbata that would give them a proven scorer.  The Ducks and or the St. Louis Blues both have the most to prove today.

*-> It's reportedly all quiet in Buffalo as really McGinn remains the only player the Sabres are 100% set to move and or is attracting interest from other teams.  David Legwand has been a tough sell around the league, looks like this could be his last season.

*-> The Red Wings don't appear to be interested in moving any young prospect or high picks so unless they can add a significant upgrade from a hockey perspective they'll stand pat today.  So I guess we can cancel that interest in Hartnell out.

*-> Washington appears to be out on Dan Hamhuis as of 9am this morning according to reports.

Trade Deadline 2016: Edmonton Oilers Update 10:00am

*-> The Edmonton Oilers have showcased Nikita Nikitin but to not much prevail.  The Oil would love to dump Nikitin for anything even a minor leaguer but the rest of the league doesn't appear to have any interest especially with the defensemen on the market today.

Nail Yakupov is attracting interest after the Oilers spread the word he's out there. Lots of teams have interest but the offers so far are under whelming for the Oilers. The Senators have expressed the most interest but aren't willing to part with a 1st rounder and high end prospect that the Oilers are asking. Many are comparing the bottom line asking price to the Brett Connolly deal last season.  The oilers know they will gain a higher return at the draft so it's still a 50/50 chance they'll ship out the Russian winger.

Other than that Matt Hendricks is the only other member of the Oilers that might attract interest as playoff teams like what he brings to the table.  The Capitals have been listed as a possible destination alone with the Florida Panthers.

Finally the Oilers no doubt will receive offers on RNH but at this point have no interest in moving him unless they can finally add that elite defenseman to their blueline which currently doesn't exist on the market.  It was reported they were close to moving him when Seth Jones was available so anythings possible but don't get your hopes up internet.

The Oilers will continue to look to build for the future as they do every year and look to find that piece to their blueline that they coveted since Chris Pronger.

Trade Deadline 2016: 9:45am

*-> The Montreal Canadiens are getting calls on Alex Galchenyuk this morning but don't appear keen on moving him today or at all.

*-> It also seams unlikely that the Canadiens move Alexei Emelin today as the recent wave of injuries to their blueline have the Habs searching themselves for another defenseman.

*-> The Coyotes have had offers for Martin Hanzal but they are in the same boat as the Canadiens not realistically looking to move him unless the offer is too good to refuse which doesn't appear to be the case.

*-> The Carolina Hurricanes are having a hard time clearing up their backend for the wave of kids next season.  John Michael Liles and Ron Hainsey aren't getting much traction so far. They'd like to move the pending free agent Liles and signed through next year.

*-> The Leafs don't expect to move Mark Arcobello today despite their efforts as he's been sent to the Toronto Marlies.

*-> A few teams looking for depth have actually kicked tires on Rene Bourque a pending UFA. The Jackets would love to get anything for the enigmatic Bourque I'm sure.

Trade! Pittsburgh -> Arizona

*-> It appears the Penguins have traded Sergei Plotnikov to the Arizona Coyotes for a conditional draft pick Craig Custance has reported.

Trade Deadline 2016: 9:30am Calgary Flames Update

*-> Kris Russell is reportedly 100% being dealt today Brian Burke has hinted.  Russell has attracted a ton of interest around the league and is expected to fetch a 1st round pick which is the Flames ideal asking price.  Pittsburgh, Dallas, Los Angeles, Boston, Florida have all been highly interested.  It's expected though once Hamhuis the main defenceman on the market drops then Russell will shortly follow.

The Flames as previously reported are willing to move Jonas Hiller for a team looking for playoff depth.

David Jones is being shopped hard as well with a few suitors but the Flames don't expect anything major for a return.

Matt Stajan is another interesting name in Calgary as he's not unrestricted but doesn't appear to be a major piece of the Flames puzzle going forward.  His cap hit might deter suitors however as many of the contenders don't have room to take a large hit on a 3rd line center.  He may have to be part of a non playoff picture hockey deal where the Flames get a useful player in return.

Dennis Wideman was rumored to be on his way out of Calgary before the suspension.  That ugly incident may have killed the Flames chances of any deal especially with his even uglier play this season and not to mention 5 million dollar cap hit.

The Flames will listen to any offers as long as any of their kids aren't one of them anyone else the Flames will at least listen to offers.  Expect the Flames to be 2nd busiest Canadian team behind the Leafs despite not much being available.

Trade Deadline 2016: 9:15am Toronto Update

*-> The Toronto Maple Leafs will continue to dismantle their roster today.  Expect many of their UFA's to be moved which include...

P.A Parenteau
Mark Arcobello
Michael Grabner
Brad Boyes
 and Alex Stalock

The Islanders remain the hottest on Parenteau as they know they player and he resurrected his career previously with the Islanders. The Isles still aren't willing to budge on the Leafs asking price of a second and a prospect or a 1st rounder. The Blues may be interested as well but once again the price is too high.

Boston was rumored to be looking at Boyes as an inexpensive rental.

Teams have called on Leo Komarov but the Leafs believe he's part of the future.

The Leafs are also expected to listen to offers for center Tyler Bozak.  Teams are interested but the Leafs are on the fence on whether or not they wish to move him as they may get greater return this summer for him.  The Leafs are expected to continue their rebuild into next season and the season beyond so Bozak may not fit with the Leafs in that time frame.

It's expected that the Leafs will pull the plug on Lupul with him this season and then bury his career like they did Robidas on the injury reserve.

The recently acquired Milan Michalek injury woes should keep him on the Leafs for next season.

Jarred Cowen has said he will not report to the Marlies so expect the Leafs to try at all costs to move him even if it means taking an ugly contract back. Brian Bickell's contract has been listed as a perfect example.

Colin Greening is expected to be bought out this summer with little to no interest on the former Sen.

Expect the Leafs to continue to be busy, they will move out as many bodies as they can.  They'd like to bring in some players for the Marlies as part of any deals they make to restock the Marlies as they'll need some of the kids to man the Leafs for the rest of the season.

Trade Deadline 2016: 9:00am

*-> St. Louis has kicked tires at Loui Eriksson, the Blues want to add some fire power to keep up with the West powers but are hesitant to pay big prices for a rental when their season hasn't progressed as planned.  The Bruins were rumored to be interested in Ty Rattie or Dmitri Jaskin as a possbile packaged return.

*-> It appears highly likely Dan Hamhuis is traded today especially given his comments he'd like an Antoine Vermette type situation where he's allowed to return this summer to Vancouver.

*-> While on the Canucks it appears they may be willing to move Radim Vrbata at this point despite having a great season last year with some setbacks this year.  Vrbata isn't keen on moving it's rumored but he may not have a choice if a contender comes knocking.

*-> Rumors have the Jets all quiet on the trade front last night and don't expect to be very busy today. As mentioned earlier not much is available in Manitoba today apart from a couple minor pieces.

*-> Buffalo has been quietly listening to offers for Tyler Ennis, lots of interest but they may not be keen on moving him.

*-> The New York Rangers would like to make another move for a 3rd liner who can play up the line up but cap space is extremely tight.

*-> The Anaheim Ducks are expected to be in on Mikkel Boedker and Loui Eriksson looking to add some punch.  The Ducks have an abundance of defensive prospect to peddle the Bruins so that may be the best suitor for Boston.

*-> The Flames are more than willing to part with Jonas Hiller if there's interest.

*-> Nashville is still seeking an offensive threat, Scott Hartnell has not yet been asked to waive his no trade but recent reports have Hartnell open to any major contenders especially the Preds.

*-> The Penguins are still looking at a big name defenseman despite Schultz being brought in.  Hamhuis is a name that keeps coming up.

Trade Deadline 2016: 8:25am

*-> Scott Hartnell has attracted some interest from the Detroit Red Wings but the Wings are reportedly expecting the Jackets to retain up to 50% of his salary to make a deal.

*-> Dallas has denied interest in bringing Loui Eriksson back and their main focus remains on adding a defenseman.

*-> While on Eriksson, the Bruins appear to be willing as of yesterday to move the Swedish winger if it means they get a defenseman in return.  Their willing to take a risk on a rental with hopes to resign.  Eriksson and the B's contract talks have gone south but it's expected both sides will reach out again today for one last look.

*-> Florida may not be done yet as they may look to add a blue liner rental.

*-> Sam Gagner could be on the move again as it appears the Flyers are looking at moving him as he's been deemed expendable.  The Flyers are also reportedly interested in moving Mark Streit now that the Ghost has replaced Streit as their go to guy on the point. Russian pending UFA Evgeni Medvedev has also been available,

*-> The Flames are reportedly asking for a 1st or 2 2nd's for Kris Russell.

*->  Mikkel Boedker has reportedly turned down a 5.5 million dollar multi year deal from the Coyotes so that could mean he's moved out today.

*-> A strange one out of Buffalo this morning claiming Josh Gorges has rejected a potential deal.

Trade Deadline 2016: 8:00am

*-> Chris Kunitz of the Penguins is believed to be out there.  The Pens are looking at ways to shed some cap while adding another piece to their roster and Kunitz appears to be slowly fading the past few seasons.

*-> The New York Islanders aren't expected to be busy today but have kicked tires on Kris Russell of the Flames. They also have taken a hard look in the past weeks at P.A Parenteau but aren't willing to shell out for him.

*-> Dan Hamhuis highlights the availiable defensemen today and many teams have pushed the Canucks into possibly selling. They were on the fence as of last week but the return could prove too much to resist.  The Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche and the Detroit Red Wings have all expressed interest.  Hamhuis himself has said he likes the Dallas Stars chances. Remember he owns a no trade so he controls his fate in this one.

*-> Fedor Tyutin is the consolation prize after Hamhuis it appears. The Blue Jackets need to clear cap badly and with a young blue line Tyutin is expendable especially since he's lost a step.

*-> While on the Jackets, it was rumored that the Nashville Predators were in talks with them about bringing Scott Hartnell home.  The deal was rumored to be a 3rd plus Colin Wilson. Many are saying that discussions were only had no offers as of last night.

*-> Montreal would love to move Alexei Emelin and his 4 million dollar cap hit. San Jose was looking earlier this year but Montreal walked away.  San Jose also found their shut down guy in Polak.

Time to get some coffee....

Trade Deadline 2016: 7:50 Sens Update

*-> The Ottawa Senators are willing to make a hockey trade for a forward for next season and are openly shopping Alex Chiasson, and Shane Prince.  The Sens wont part with any future unless it means a high quality young winger who can play now. Don't expect a rental for a miracle run like last season GM Murray is well aware that realistically it wont happen again. All in all the Sens could remain pat with their current roster as not much is expected to change.

They reportedly have an offer on the table for Jonathan Drouin with the Bolts. The Lightning are keen on Chabot but the Sens arn't budging on him.  The Sens would love to package Mikael Wikstrand after he took off this fall back to Sweden to be with his brother. The Lightning are also been rumored to be kicking tires at Cody Ceci in a package something the Sens may consider now with Phaneuf and free agency this summer.

Expect Patrick Weircoch to be moved today, the team really would like to move on and get something for him. The Avalanche have looked at him earlier this season.

As mentioned before TSN is reporting the Sens are in on Nail Yakupov.

I talked to my Sens guy late last week and was told that Dion Phaneuf still has many in the Ottawa organization iffy on him.  The fans last week let it be known that they accept the one time rival but the Sens brass view this as a trial for him. They were extremely uneasy about the deal when they made it but feel it was the best they could achieve with what they were selling.

Trade Deadline 2016: 7:35am

Here's what I'm hearing so far..

*-> The Toronto Maple Leafs are still asking way too much for P.A Parenteau. Teams are really hesitant to pay the Leafs asking price of a 1st round pick when players of higher calibre are going for a 2nd this year.

*-> The New Jersey Devils appear to be all in on trading Lee Stempniak and the asking price appears to be a 2nd.  The Kings were highly interested till they made the Versteeg move yesterday.  The Pittsburgh Penguins have been rumored to be relooking at Stempniak as they are familiar with him.

*-> Columbus have yet to ask Scott Hartnell to waive his no trade clause. There is interest from around the league but his cap hit is a factor.

*-> The Jets seam willing to stand pat but have told teams that Adam Pardy is available along with Alexander Burmistrov. The Jets would love to part ways with Burmistrov at this point as he hasn't fit into the Jets system.

*-> The Canadiens are shopping Lars Eller hard but want an offensive forward with contract in return, I expect as the day goes on they may settle for a pick.

*-> TSN is reporting that there's a 50/50 chance Nail Yakupov is moved today with Ottawa being a potential destination.

*-> Dan Hamhuis has most likely played his last days as a Canuck as Vancouver has been overwhelmed by the interest from around the league.  The Stars were highly interested late last night.

*-> Los Angeles may not be done dealing, they are currently looking at ways to shed some cap to add a d-man.

Trade Deadline 2016....We're Back!

Yes we are finally back after taking over a year off! A lot has happened this past couple of years in regards to the site. After a successful run on blogger we decided to move to our own designed site hosted on a big name hosting site. That didn't work out as planned right from the get go. The site we had designed really limited us to what we could do due to the fact we rushed to get the new one up without much planning so that was a stumbling block from the get go. Our designer was great for us and designed everything we asked  (even if rushed) for before his new career took off leaving web design and also our site in the past. After about a year of posting on the new site we noticed our viewership was way down from when with Blogger.  Life kicked in and things got hectic so posting wasn't as frequent as the past till the new year last year and when things were on the up swing again we had extreme difficulties with our hosting site.  The difficulties turned into an all out nightmare in which we got hacked and our hosting site before contacting anyone from Ice Scoopz threatened us and then deleted our site and files leaving us without back up.  I took the following time afterwards to really ponder if I want to continue this site with other projects on the go. I've decided it wouldn't be the Trade Deadline without Ice Scoopz so here we are open for business as usual. We're going to continue on Blogger for the time being concentrating mostly on the Draft.  There will be a detailed post coming in the up coming weeks on what to expect from the new Ice Scoopz so stay tuned.

As for today on Trade Deadline expect our usual coverage, live rumors and trade notifications all day long leading up until the 3pm deadline.

Finally I just want to thank our friends and fans who have supported and stuck with us from the old site to the new I know at times with all the changes it wasn't easy.  Thanks for everything guys and girls without passionate hockey fans like you I wouldn't be doing this. Thanks to all our new fans joining us today and also here's to the future of Ice Scoopz!
