Trade Deadline 2016: 12:55pm

*-> Some news more than a trade rumor but still news on a slow day like today is better than silence. Ilya Kovalchuk's return to the NHL seams more likely now as his agent has confirmed to talking to one GM as a possible situation. Daly of the NHL has maintained it's a "special" case and they'll get to those roads when they have to cross them.  The league rule states that New Jersey technically owns his rights since he retired there and if he sits out the year the Devils could allow him to return to the league.  his other option and since he played in Europe this season he'd have to pass through waivers or gain consent from the rest of the league. Section 8.7 of the the collective bargaining agreement states "the club on whose voluntarily retired list a player's name has been registered may transfer his name back on its reserve list at any time after the expiry of one year from the date of registration on the voluntarily retired list by filing any currently valid contract, option or try-out." Which pretty much means he can return to the Devils since he retired in 2011.  This all comes after Kovalchuk was disaplined and sent home from his KHL club SKA St. Petersburg.   He could add some punch to the Devils line up or they could attempt to bring him back if this loop hole is correct and deal him. all this would have to happen in the offseason.

*-> The Coyotes are asking a first and a conditional pick if Mikkal Boedker gets resigned it's rumored.

*-> Some rumblings online the Oilers could be interested in Loui Eriksson if they could get some hope he'd resign first.  Some have gone as far as saying that Jordan Eberle could be the return,  I doubt it in my opinion however and this is just a report not something I endorse or believe before I get anger Edmonton fan e-mails.

*-> The Ducks have reportedly been in conversation with the Buffalo Sabres this past week.  Buffalo Scouts were seen taking in the Los Angeles Anaheim game.

*-> Pierre LeBrun has reported despite contradicting reports that the Washington Capitals have kicked tires on Dan Hamhuis.

*-> It's looking more and more likely that Florida's Brandon Pirri will be dealt today.

*-> The Stars are still appear to be looking at Dan Hamhuis, it appears to be the likely destination as both parties want the other.
