The US of A beat Switzerland by the score of 3 to 1 this afternoon. The main story was the US and how they struggled out of the gate. The United States fell into the Swiss trap and the more aged and experienced Swiss held them defensively for the first portion of the game. It wasn't until Bobby Ryan put one by Jonas Hiller that the US finally got going. The Swiss played great defensive hockey but the offense looked almost invisible. Not really one player stood out to me on the Swiss end except Jonas Hiller who looked comfortable in net. On the Red White and Blue David Backes was by far their best player. Something I wouldn't have predicted. A player I was very disappointed with was Yannick Webber a Montreal Canadiens prospect. He really didn't look like a more defensive Mark Streit, more like a pilon on the Backes goal.
