*-> TSN is reporting that the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers are talking trade surrounding Ethan Moreau. The Oilers are trying to peddle Ethan Moreau to start a rebuild process and the Leafs are interested. The only catch is the Leafs want the Oilers to take back ether Garnett Exelby or Lee Stemniak plus a late draft pick in return so it appears to be a stand still. I don't usually doubt the Boys at TSN because there the best in the business but I can't see how ether team will benefit from this deal. The Oilers don't really need ether player and Moreau isn't too exspensive for a pick to be thrown in as well. Still though these guys are usually right...
*-> While on the Toronto subject its believed that the Pittsburgh Penguins have inquired about winger Alexei Ponikarovasky. The big winger is openly avaliable for any team looking for rented offense.
*-> The Calgary Flames are predicted to be making another deal due to their surplus of wingers. The speculation is that one or more of the received players are part of a turn around deal or something bigger. There is 3 Maine rumors out there and they are; the Flames are talking to the Atlanta Thrashers about Ilya Kovalchuk and is dangling Nigal Dawes and Or Rene Bourque as part of the package. The Flames we're waiting on agreement from another team concerning one of the Ranger players to come over in the trade possibly Ales Kotalik who might have been asked to waive his no trade to Calgary and in return be moved somewhere else. Finally the Flames were attempting to pry Ryan Callahan from the Rangers so Sutter tried to fake a cancel on the deal to make Sather bite. I think the Kovalchuk rumor does make sense simply because the Flames have up a good player and an impact defenseman for virtually nothing. It wouldn't make sense if Sutter just stopped now otherwise he clearly got hustled in both deals. That leads up to it could also be a part of a bigger deal on the go. Only time will tell.
