Ice Scoopz: Wednesday Evening

*-> On my way home now but a few quick notes on the Ilya Kovalchuk status. Most media sources have now picked up on it and its starting to expand. It looks like Chicago and Philly have both dropped out according several sites. Bob McKenzie has twittered that some unprdicted teams in the mix with a little more than half a douzen teams. Some are saying that its going to be over by the end of tonight but others are saying its going to be a few days to resolve itself. Personally I'm thinking Don Waddell let the cat out of the bag to start a bidding war. He can force his demands out this way if he's smart and play bids against each other similar to the Hossa situation. The only difference is he's not guna except an offer even close. His jobs on the line this season. Teams are going to be calling to find out what other teams are involved and if their rivals then they might be forced into making a pitch worried their rivals might be over the top. This is a domino type of situation. The rest of the bigger fish could follow from panic Whitney, Frolov, Ryder etc.

Ill keep posting news as it comes. What your thoughts?

Sure am glad the sens got #2 in the 2001 draft. Says something about a guys character when he gets the captaincy and then jumps ship over a couple million bucks. Watch for him to be shipped out for a mid late first rounder, a solid world juniors calibre prospect and an overpaid player for salary dump. I see kovalchuk headed west.
