The mighty Swedes were expected to walk all over Belarus and get their goals for average up but ended up blowing a 3 - nothing lead against the lower tier Belorussians. The Sedin's teamed up 6:40 in the 1st to make it a 1 - nothing game. Sweden came on strong from the start and the pressure was all over Andrei Mezin and his defense. 3 minutes late Daniel Alfredsson scored on the man advantage and put Team Belarus down 2 - nothing. The "Mule" Johan Franzen added another and it looked like the Kronor would keep em coming en route to a blow out. Dmitri Meleshko cut the lead by 2 when he added a powerplay goal for Belarus. Then Meleshko added another goal quickly into the 3rd but Daniel Alfredsson iced the game at the end of the 3rd. Dmitri Meleshko was definitely the heart of Belarus with two important goals but the player of the game in my mind was the veteran Swede Daniel Alfredsson who played well all game and scored 2 important goals for Team Sweden. The bust of the game was once again special teams mainly the powerplay for Team Sweden who only achieved 1 on 4 attempts on a weak Belarus sqaud. The other bust was Vladimir Denisov who was on two out of the 4 Sweden goals and looked fairly weak the entire game.
