*-> Veteran defenseman Brendan Witt has been placed on waivers this morning. Vancouver and New Jersey both have interest in the rugged Dman while Paul Holmgren is rumored to be interested but isn't likely to put in a claim unless he is out on rentry waivers.
*-> Michael Ryder is believed to be on the block as the Boston Bruins management is extremely unhappy with his play and looking for some offense help. Ryders stock is down however due to his incosistent play and his 4 million dollar price tag next season. A desperate team with cap space might take a run at him if they lose out on a bigger name. Brian Burke is rumored to be interested to play along side Kessel but I personally doubt Burke would take the risk.
*-> Petr Sykora's agent has said his client is close to deciding what team he'll sign and finnish the season with. We should know before the Olympic break. There are lots of possible destinations such as Pittsburgh due to the players wanting making a pitch, the Boston Bruins which I doubt would take another FA risk, the New York Islanders who want another winger, the Phoenix Coyotes who are looking for cheap help, and the Ottawa Senators. My guess is ether the Sens who are strapped for cap space and do not wish to disturb team chemistry or the Phoenix Coyotes who also would like a cheap offensive source. We'll have to wait to see about this one.
That's it for now but check out TSNs trade deadline questions answered by TSNs insider Darren Dregger. Its pretty sweet and sums up a lot of teams situations. Ill be back in a bit with some news on the leafs and Oilers talking trade also according to TSN and some more rumors.
