*-> It appears the Jokinen, Prust for Kotalik and Higgins appears to have been stalled. It looks like both sides are waiting on Kotalik to make a decesion. Kotalik has a limited no trade clause which allows him to pick 3 teams to nix a deal to and Calgary happens to be one of the 3. My guess is he'll waive it since he knows his days are over in New York as he's been a healthy scratch 8 out of the last 9 games.
*-> Ilya Kovalchuks name is being thrown around the league even more by Don Waddell to create a bidding war. The Flames are red hot for him and many believe its the main reason why they dealt Phaneuf and trying to dump Jokinens salary. The Los Angeles Kings also are in the mix and rumored to have a deal on the table but the Thrashers are still asking for way too much for a rental as Waddell won't allow any teams to speak with the Kovalchuk camp first. The Canadians are another team gunning but are reportedly trying to deal salary first. Rumors are also saying they are working on a backup deal with the Kings for Frolov but it hinges on the Kings getting Kovalchuk. Finally the Bruins are also after the Russian sniper but aren't willing to pay the Thrashers asking price for the superstar. Expect a major bidding war during the break leading up to the deadline. I'm almost certain Kovalchuks days are numbered in the ATL.
