Ice Scoopz: Wednesday Afternoon

*-> Zach Stortini has cleared waivers today, he's been assigned to Oklahoma of the AHL.

*-> According to reports Ottawa's Chris Neil is starting to attract some interest but the Sens are still on the fence about trading him. Chris Neil does a lot of charity work in Ottawa and is a fan favorite so GM Murray is undecided on whether or not to move Neil, the Sens also will need some players moving forwards in their rebuild which no-one in management has yet to acknowledge is happening. No word on yet who could be interested but it's rumored it's mostly Western Conference teams looking at the agitating winger. One would have to wonder if Zach Smith and his recent decent play could help to make Chris Neil expendable.

*-> Mike Smith is rumored to be on his way out, Tampa Bay GM Steve Yzerman is reportedly shopping the struggling goalie around the league while Smith is on the injured reserve. It's believed the Bolts will attempt to buy some time by sending Smith on a conditioning stint so that they can figure out a plan and try and get something for him. The Bolts may end up just waiving the goaltender if there isn't any bites soon.

*-> The returning Ray Emery has acknowledged that atleast 4 teams have called him so far and has said he expects to return to action before the end of the season. The Islanders, Red Wings, Capitals and Sharks are the usual suspects while the surprise teams are The Sens who may look to do Emery a favor by letting him back up Elliott for the remainder of the season to test out his hip at base salary. highly unlikely in my mind but hey the Sens do need a filler to play out the year and nobody knows Emery best than Ottawa.
