*-> The Ottawa Senators have traded Mike Fisher to the Nashville Predators for a 2011 1st round draft pick and a 2012 conditional pick.
Great deal for the Sens, they give up one of the all time fan favorites but they get a 1st round pick in return for a player who hasn't been the same as he once was all year long for them. Nashville was rumored all season long so this shouldn't be a shock to Sens fans especially since he's married to Carrie Underwood.

How far do you think Nashville will be able to go in the playoffs with the addition of Fisher?
Great work Murray!! Terrific trade. I love Fisher as much as the next guy, but this was a key move in breaking up the "old boys club" on the Sens who get a free ride by fans and the media based solely on longevity. Though he has speed and a shot, lately I've been a bit critical of Fisher. I personally feel he lacks good hockey sense and doesn't play as physical as he should in his role. Last season showed his ceiling as an offensive producer and it is clearly not enough for what the Sens need. Also, his prime "defensive play" has been overblown by the media. He is often sluggish to get back into the zone and usually looks lost positionally. How many times can that 3rd man burn us?
More importantly, Murray FINALLY made a move that indicates change is coming. No move thus far has made the kind of statement that this trade makes. Fisher was part of the rotten core of this team, and nothing will change with the team unless that core is replaced.
Thanks Fish for all the years, you were loved by many and you loved us back, but this isn't going to be the same team that let you, Neil, Kelly, Phillips, and even Alfie off the hook for sloppy play all the time. Change is coming.
But are Sens fans ready for it?

Well Nashville is always a team I like to cheer for in the playoffs but mainly because going into the playoffs their always the underdogs. This year is no different as the Predators are relying on Shea Weber to carry most of the offensive role with the streaky Sergei Kostitsyn and young Colin Wilson backing him up. The one consistent source of offense should be Hornqvist so the Preds are banking on a lot once again. If they can get some extra insurance offence they may be able to make a run.
A fine move by Murray, I hope its the first of many....
