*-> The Detroit Red Wings have signed Jan Mursak to a 2 year deal this afternoon. It's believed the deal is a two way contract.
*-> The Tomas Kaberle deal could be closer than we think. Several sources as well as TSN's Darren Dreger have said that the Bruins and Leafs all but have a deal worked out but Kaberle has still yet to waive his no trade clause publically. The deal just needs a few things finalized first and the Bruins are just managing cap space so it could be a few days before anything happens. Some are saying it's not the Bruins the deals with but it's hard not to believe. Reports have Vancouver pushing hard now that Kevin Bieksa too is out with injury, we'll have to wait this one out. It still could be premature to announce Boston and Leafs are a done deal but we'll find out soon hopefully.
*-> Many are saying now that Ottawa has set the bar low with Jarkko Ruutu, the enigmatic Russian Alexei Kovalev could be the next on his way out if Murray is ready to settle for a late draft pick. Not many are understanding Murray's logic and he just may be trying to clean out the room before deadline day. The Penguins are rumored to be in on Kovalev but he appears to be plan B now that Ales Hemsky may be up for grabs.
*-> The Detroit Red Wings will reportedly stand pat for now Ken Holland has said. He's content on how his team has been playing as of late.
*-> With the recent injuries to The Monster, Jussi Rynnas and J.S Giguere it's said now instead of shopping goalies the Toronto Maple Leafs will look to bring in a goalie. I've heard Jose Theodore's name meantioned as well as Peter Budaj out of Colorado. Mike Smith could also be had for cheap from the Tampa Bay Lightning it's said. It's expected the Leafs will look to acquire a goalie for cheap for the main roster while also trading for a minor league goalie to hold down the fort in the minors as the Marlies backup. Right now they've signed an inexperienced University goalie on emergancy basis. It's expected the Leafs could pull the trigger on a deal as soon as tonight.
