A couple of rumors before bed as the Chris Kelly deal has apparently sparked a couple of moves.
*-> With Chris Kelly headed to Boston the Bruins have addressed their need to replace Marc Savard up the middle. Peter Chierelli has told the media that he fully intends on looking at upgrading his defense and yes he has had talks with Toronto but wont name the player in question. Hmmm I wonder who that can be? I'm thinking the next move will have to send some cap back to Toronto and it's no secret the Leafs want Blake Wheeler. The fact that Wheeler and Kessel are close friends also helps stir the pot. I'm hearing Mark Stuart and Blake Wheeler for Tomas Kaberle and a 4th. Brian Burke has said he's not looking at the pick they traded to the Bruins and now that the Bruins have dealt a second I can't see them pursuing a draft pick orientated deal unless it's one of the two firsts but I expect that will come at the draft. Zach Hamill and or Ryan Spooner could also be targets of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
*-> Brian Burke has also said tonight that dealing before the trade deadline is easier than dealing at the deadline in a "crowded room". He said that there will be more moves made sooner than later leading up to the deadline.
*-> Pittsburgh scouts were in Ottawa tonight further speculating that Alexei Kovalev could be moved to the Penguins who he has a history with.
*-> The Phoenix Coyotes target appears to be a scoring center...
*-> Coyotes scouts were seen in Edmonton watching the Oilers play Dallas tonight. LA scouts and Bruins scouts were also in attendance. Could Andrew Cogliano be available once again? The Kings are reportedly looking at Penner and Hemsky however. Not too sure what the Bruins could be interested in as they just pulled the trigger on the Kelly deal.
Thats it for now see you in the morning.
