*-> Despite the good intentions Chris Phillips showed yesterday by saying he'd like to remain a Senator during the rebuild it doesn't look like that had any effect on Murray especially since less than two weeks ago Murray told the media he had asked for some thought from Phillips about where he'd like to go and if he'd be willing to waive his clause but Phillips has yet to get back to him. Murray also said in the interview that if there's no future for that player within the team then it's probably in his best interests to not stick around to sum it up. So has Murray's heart warmed since then, I personally highly doubt it as many teams are interested in Phillips and if Murray's set on clearing out the old guard then Phillips is yet another candidate to move. I'm still hearing Phillips has not responded back to Murray's request yet.
*-> Sens fans will be happy to hear that Larry Brooks has reported he has learned that the Rangers may have interest in Filip Kuba.
*-> The Montreal Canadiens are NOT in the mix for Ian White it's been reported, especially since the Canadiens brought back Paul Mara for another go.
*-> Who is in the mix for Ian White? I'ts hard to say at this point as the market is starting to get clouded with defensemen and teams looking to pick up a defenseman. There's not much speculation around where White will end up but we do know a deal is close. Many are now thinking San Jose could be a potential landing spot for the offensive d-man. Columbus has been searching for a puck moving d-man from day one of the season while New York has recently jumped into the mix as well. New York however is more likely looking at an all round defenseman who can help them at both ends of the ice. The team flying under most peoples radars is the Nashville Predators who are almost ready to announce that Francis Boullion most likely wont be back during regular season.. The Flyer are also seeking a defenseman but would have to be cap friendly. The Capitals require a physical shut down defenseman while the Tampa Bay Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said yesterday he'd like to add one more d for depth as well. The Chicago Blackhawks are also looking for a shut down defenseman but once again a cap friendly one. Lots of teams shopping for defensemen out there I'm sure once a few go lots of teams will get into panic mode leading up to the deadline.
*-> Lot's of scouts were active around the league last night once again as the Montreal Canadiens scouts with in attendance of the Columbus Blue Jackets vs the Los Angeles Kings last night. Scouts from Chicago and Detroit were also there.
*-> Boston may have turned their attention to Ron Hainsey of the Atlanta Thrashers now I'm hearing. This might be a ploy to get Brian Burke to drop his price tag on Tomas Kaberle or this could just be laying the tracks for a backup plan.
*-> Traktor of the KHL has resigned Alexander Buturlin to a one year deal keeping him with the club.
