Ice Scoopz: Wednesday Afternoon

*-> Darren Dreger of TSN has reported the New York Islanders have been looking at acquiring a goaltender this morning. I've also heard such rumors as well, I've heard GM Garth Snow was highly interested in Emery but the reason he backed out is that he needs help now rather than later and there's still not 100% that Emery will be able to play. Jose Theodore could be an option people are saying as is Michael Leighton. I have heard of talks that the Detroit / Nabokov situation could come to a close for a trade that would involved former Islander Joey Macdonald.

*-> I'm also hearing that the Chicago Blackhawks are looking at Toronto's J.S Giguere for goaltending help but any team making a deal with Toronto would have to take back a contract. Marty Turco and Tomas Kopecky are the two guys that come up. The Hawks would love to move Brian Campbell at this deadline but highly unlikely.

*-> The Montreal and Florida rumors keep gaining steam today. Montreal is definitely looking at someone in Florida. Everyone is pointing at Stephen Weiss but this morning I'm hearing it could be something else along the lines of a defenseman. Tallon has said no real trade talks have taken place but the Montreal scouts have been all over the Panthers as of late.

*-> The Canes arn't looking to move Erik Cole.......yet.

*-> The New York Rangers are still searching for a defenseman, Sergei Gonchar is a repeat name I'm hearing over and over as well as Tomas Kaberle. New York was reportedly one of Kaberle's possible destinations.
