Ice Scoopz: Thursday Afternoon

*-> It appears that Mike Smith has cleared waivers this morning and will be assigned to the AHL.

*-> Add Anaheim to the list of teams interested in "Sugar" Ray Emery. Several Anaheim based media outlets have confirmed that the Ducks are looking for an experienced backup in case things go wrong in the post season.

*-> Rick Dudley has told the Atlanta media that the Thrashers are looking to add 2 forwards and 1 defenseman. It's believed he's interested in a veteran center and an offensive catalyst. Ales Hemsky is the name being thrown around this morning. Dudley was also clear in stating he wouldn't give up future for a playoff run. Many are saying he'd like to move a roster player or two to add the pieces to the puzzle.

*-> The Minnesota Wild is reportedly showcasing Jose Theodore for a possible deadline day deal now that Anton Khubbodin is ready to return to his backup position.

*-> Steven Weiss appears to be staying put as GM Dale Tallon said he'd like to keep the young core while getting rid of any spare parts in the organization. Another key factor is that Weiss went on the record to tell the media he likes the Panthers organization and though missing the playoffs is wearing he still enjoys being part of the team and helping it move forward.
