Ice Scoopz: Monday Morning

*-> Ray Emery has indeed signed with the Anaheim Ducks this morning as predicted. The deal is a 1 year deal worth 500K for the year and is a 2 way clause. The reason for the 2 way deal is because Emery will needed an extended conditioning stint in the AHL to get in game shape. This comes at a bit of a disadvantage for the Ducks as Emery will now have to pass through waivers first because of his age but once if he clears he will not have to pass through waivers again on the way up. However if he is claimed he will have to remain on that teams roster till the end of the season. So far I'm still hearing the Islanders are itnerested. San Jose is out now I'm also hearing. Niemi has proved his case.

*-> Still trying to figure out what my Sens source was trying to hint at a week ago as nothing major with the Sens has happened. He could just be throwing my off a little to keep things fresh and keep me guessing a little. From what I have heard is there's several offers on the table so GM Murray could be waiting to see if his offers increase as the deadline gets closer. I'll try to get more out of him later today and get him to expand on his previous comments but my guess is something is in the works and Murray has been looking at options for the past few weeks. We do know that several teams have been knocking at the door about Mike Fisher and he has been asked to tell Murray if he'd ever consider a trade and if so where to. From what I'm hearing about the Fisher situation is it's a "IF you want to help the team" inquiry and the balls in his court. Chris Phillips still has yet to be asked as of Friday. It came out this weekend that enigmatic and underachieving Alexei Kovalev is unhappy and would rather a trade sooner than later, he and several other veterans have lost faith in Clouston. Jarkko Ruutu echoed similar comments earlier this season and he too would be open to a deal. Late Sunday I heard a rumor in regards to Bryan Murray trying to push Pascal Leclaire around the league to no prevail as many teams do not wanna touch Leclaire and his injury woes especially since he's most likely out for season and also a UFA. Murrays hoped a rival GM would consider a reclamation project for next season with the soft French Canadian goalie.

*-> The Flyers have reportedly offered soon to be UFA Ville Leino a new contract this weekend.

*-> Dmitri Orlov of Metallurg Novokuznetsk has been in talks with the Washington Captials to come over to North America next season and play for the Hersey Bears according to Russian Media. Orlov has been extremely skeptical about coming to North America to play mainly because of not wanting to play in the AHL. The KHL also is reportedly backing Metallurg Novokuznetsk and offering top dollar to stay in the KHL as they look to keep their next wave of young stars in Russia. Metallurg Novokuznetsk has reportedly even been offered cash to trade Orlov's rights to a contender to keep him happy.

*-> As everyone has probably guessed by now the Bruins are going to announce that center Marc Savard will be out for the season today. TSN first reported the news Friday but it has been now confirmed by several members of the Boston Globe. The main reason behind the announcement appears to be creating the cap space the Bruins need to bring in a replacement player and to give Savard much needed time off to recover.
