Ice Scoopz: Monday Afternoon

*-> Bob McKenzie of TSN has twittered the Vancouver Canucks have waived Guillame Desbiens and the Montreal Canadiens have waived Dustin Boyd for a second time.

*-> It appears Evgeni Nabokov is ready to return to the NHL. His agent Don Meehan has said he's ready to go and listen to all offers. It's rumored the Tampa Bay Lightning may be ready to make an offer. Nabokov would havew to pass through waivers if signed however making a signing this season very unlikely. As I finish the paragraph I'm reading the Caps would be interested as well.

*-> The Alexei Kovalev soap opera continues today as now it appears the St. Louis Blues have inquired about his price. The Sens are still saying they arn't looking to move him and he also holds a no trade clause. Its rumored he is open to a trade but hasn't come out and asked for a deal. Kovalev has had several conversations with Murray in regards to coach Cory Clouston. Kovalev still feels he's being targeted by Clouston and it's rumored to not just be Kovalev unhappy with him. Alfresson had discussions earlier this season about the veterans not respecting him. It's an interesting situation but unless a major deal comes Ottawa's way or Kovalev directly asks to be move don't expect a deal. Ottawa desperately needs offense and unless they get someone who can equally provide it, the Sens need him.

*-> The Florida Panthers phone lines are lighting up as many teams have inquired about acquiring prospect Erik Gudbransen after contract negotiations have completely stalled and the two sides are no longer talking. I highly doubt Florida will part with Erik, he impressed the organization right out of the gate at camp and would have played this season if it wasn't for the contract issues. He's a big part of the organization for a long time to come. The only way its happening is unless Gudbranson refuses to play for the Cats. Just silly rumors.

*-> The New York Rangers organization is reportedly upset that people are saying they've spoken with Brad Richards and apparently it's 100% not true. They do reportedly have interest in Richards and are expected to make a pitch this summer for him. More on Richards this afternoon.
