I'm stunned the 'Oil traded Staios to the Flames...what the hell?
I would be lived if I were an 'Oil fan, just as I would be if the 'Sens made a trade that helped out the hated Leafs.
Seriously, I thought it was standard for GMs not to beef up divisional rivals, especially a great rivalry like this. Maybe decisions like this are why the Oilers have been such a joke.
Yah this one doesn't sit well with me ether boys. The Oilers made yet another stupid move. Trading Staios helps out a bitter rival in their playoff hunt. Staios is going to haunt them in the future. My only guess is that the Oilers had to dump something on the deadline and the Flames were the only takers for Staios?
I have no problem with this trade. Edmonton is smart... that 3rd rounder is a future asset that Calgary could have one day... could be an NHLer could be a bust but at least it claws away at the depth of the flames... Johnson is a salary dump.
What do the Oilers care if the Flames push this year? They're finishing last. Get rid of Staios, fall all the way down and rebuild this draft, next draft and have a contender in 2012. CA

To an Oil fan, the last thing in the world you should contemplate is helping out the Flames. Hell, the only thing worse than finishing last (which they were managing just fine with Staios) would be watching the Flames do well.
If the Sens were rebuilding, would be you ok shipping the Leafs say Phillips so they could make a 'Cup run? for the immeasurable promise of a third rounder? Hell no...
