The IR: Tuesday Morning

*-> Bad news for the Bruins, Marc Savard officially has a grade 2 concussion so it looks like he'll be out of action for atleast 3 weeks. However could be much longer. Matt Cooke blindsided Savard and he remained on the ice for quite sometime till he was taken off on a stretcher. What do you guys think of the hit?

*-> Columbus Blue Jackets star Rick Nash left the game last night with a "lower body" injury and did not return. He is expected to return to action next week as its reported to be not severe. Well see.

People complain a lot about high hits that I can go either way on, but this one was on another level. There wasnt even an attempt to hit the body; just his vulnerable head.

Cooke is a serial re-offender, and while Ive always liked his regular gritty play, this one made me sick. I say he should miss the rest of the regular season.

A very valid point Tom. I personally feel that if the hit wasn't at that angle and or Cooke atleast made an attempt to avoid the head it would be a different story. Cooke is a serial reaffended as you pointed out which should give him double the penalty. Its a tough call because when you compare the Ovechkin vs Jagr hit its close apart from the angle of the hit.
