*-> The Ilya Kovalchuk saga continues as everyone has heard the NHL has rejected the deal because it compromises the salary cap. The Devils and Kovalchuk will fill for arbitration it looks like with the NHLPA. The NHLPA is still leader less but that won't effect anything its said. While Kovalchuk remains a free agent for the time being he has stated he will be a Devil by the end of it no matter what. Some are saying the arbitration could be too costly for the Devils and a new deal may have to be worked out starting from square one which means Kovi's demands may no be met and he may once again look to the market. All that being said is both parties are committed to finding a way to make this work so I can't see any other result than Ilya in New Jersey. The Los Angeles Kings may still throw another offer his way however Dean Lombardi has told the LA media. He said he still thinks there's a slight chance to present a better deal but he won't do it at an overpriced rate as Doughty, Simmonds and co are more important in retaining. He also didn't rule out a possible trade to boost his club.
*-> Manny Legace has told the media he has yet to officially sign with any team and he does not know where the Dinamo Riga rumors came from. He also didn't rule out a European adventure.
*-> The Atlanta Thrashers have walked away from Clarke MacArthurs arbitration ruling of 2.4 million and he now becomes a free agent.
*-> The St Louis Blues have resigned David Perron to a 2 year deal worth 4.5 million overall.
*-> Danny Syvret formerly of the Flyers has signed a 1 year deal with the Anaheim Ducks.
*-> The Buffalo Sabres have come to terms with Patrick Kaleta agreeing to a 2 year deal.
*-> Robert Nilsson has been rumored to be heading to Salavat UFA of the KHL. While Karlis Skrastins has been linked to Dinamo Riga.
