Ice Scoopz: Saturday Evening

*-> The Pittsburgh Penguins have a few free agents to deal with so trade rumors have begun to swirl. Many are saying that Max Talbot with be the guy to be traded to make room for Sergei Gonchar and Kris Letangs contracts. Max Talbot is a proven playoff performer and many teams would covet him. I've seen the usual suspects listed in the interest lists. La, Dallas, New York Rangers and Phoenix on the long list. However I don't believe they'll deal him because of those very reasons other teams want him. His performance in the playoffs is guna keep him on the Pens unless they can find a suitable replacement or a steal of a deal even if they may Lose him in the offseason.

I'm not convinced kris letang is actually any better than talbot. In my opinion, positional depth is the only reason Shero would consider the former WJC Canadian captain over Talbot, who crucially controls tempo when he's on the ice.

CA,

Letang's critical on that team, their most mobile puck mover outside Gonchar. Gonch is nearing the end and they may lose him if another team offers enough term. Letang has to be resigned by the Pens.

Talbot's no more than a depth player in the regular season, but a nice player that raises his game in the playoffs. Unfortunately, he can't get Malkin going and if he's moved, I think it'll be for some scoring depth.

I agree with Jalen on the Letang thing, he is their future offensive defenseman. I don't think they'll shop Max talbot unless they can get some definate offensive help.
