Ice Scoopz: Tuesday Afternoon

*-> According to TSN the Montreal Canadians are offering goalie Jaroslav Halak around the league. The report states Bob Gainey has put in several calls to say he is available and Halak had asked to take the next step in gaining a starter status. The Philadelphia Flyers were listed as the main team being approached but have not made any offers yet. TSN is reporting off a 3rd party site so this may not be accurate as I still believe Halak might stay as the Habs may need the duo down the stretch. The asking price is a 2nd rounder or a top 6 gritty forward.

*-> The Philadelphia Flyers have claimed goaltender Michael Leighton in an effort to replace there backup/ overall goalie woes. This could mean the Halak reports are just kicking tires.

*-> No news yet on PA Parenteau but I,ll stay tuned. Its expected he'll be claimed. The Habs might have interest as do the Wings and Preds.

*-> Aaron Ward was placed on waivers last night as well by the Carolina Hurricanes. He should get picked up. The Ottawa Senators have shown interest in the gritty defenseman as have the Vancouver Canucks and the Phoenix Coyotes.

*-> Michael Nylander has been loaned to Grand Rapids of the AHL. This situation is finally over or atleast for now....

Halak is an RFA at seasons end. No way Gainey is gonna get decent value in the summer. Gotta trade him at the deadline, depending on the Habs standings. Could get a decent power forward instead of going to that wet noodle Ryan White.
