Ice Scoopz: Trade

Bob McKenzie was once again right on yet another deal. This is why I think he's one of the most impressive analysts in the game today. He consistently reports nothing but gold and his insight to the game is incredible. One of my main influences and nothing but awe and respect for him.

*-> The Washington Capitals have traded captain Chris Clark and Milan Jurcina to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Jason Chimera.

It's not a blockbuster like most pundits were predicting involving blue chip prospects but hey it's a steal for the Blue Jacket's in my mind. The Jackets get a great dressingroom guy in Clark and someone who will help motivate the room. A great turn around move and Jurcina will also add some grit. Not too sure why the Capitals want Chimera? Maybe a cap clearing move for something bigger?

Awful trade for the Caps. Who's gonna grab the "C" now? Ovech? I don't think he's got the leadership abilities or the well-rounded game to inherit the captaincy, but my guess is Leonisis and Boudreau already had the sweater stitched...

Btw Scoopz, great call on the Theo Fleury book. "Playing with Fire" is a damn good read, and really captures what it means to be tough in late 80's hockey. Its not all sex abuse and coke benders, although that stuff is interesting too.

Yup the jerseys been stitched and the writings been on the wall for a while now for Clark.
