Ice Scoopz: Weekend Wrap Up

*-> Jeff Carter has signed an 11 year deal with the Philly Flyers this weekend worth roughly 5.27$ million per year towards the cap. Another long extension hopefully it bodes well for the Flyers. Another young center peice locked upfor the forseable future. This should end all Carter rumors for now...

*-> Another recently debated rumor should also be ended today as the St. Louis Blues have locked up David Backes to a 5 year deal worth 4.5$ million or 22.5$ million overall. Great signing for the Blues, he's a great young player that should help the Blues become a championship team.

*-> The Tampa Bay Lightning are hotly pursuing free agent Marc-Andre Bergeron. The Bolts look to add some offensive punch to their backend and Bergeron appears to be a cheap solid solution. His agent has addmitted to several inquiries but no solid offers. He also said he had not been in touch with his former club the Montreal Canadiens like many have reported now that Andre Markov is once again out. The Anaheim Ducks and Florida Panthers have both also surfaced as of late.

Scoopz, what about the Campbell fiasco? This story isn't receiving near enough attention.

I'm hesitate to anoint things "-gate" but I think we're dangerously close to giving the Campbell situation "gate" status. Here are the odds I'm giving for what this becomes known as:

Campbellgate 4 to 1
Fakergate 6 to 1
Emailgate 7 to 1
Warrengate 7 to 1
Daddygate 9 to 1
Biasgate 12 to 1
BettmanisGregory'srealdadgate.... 50 to 1

Personally I like "Fakergate" it just rolls nicely off the tongue. That last one is the way I'd plan this out if it were an episode of the OC. Be nice if this shook up the NHL hierarchy and some fresh blood got in there. I'd be a great VP fyi.

Nice CA, I vote for DaddyGate.
If I was Campbell, I would just deny it; sketchy emails on a blog is a bit different than and investigative report by David Frost. Plus, the NHL has lost nearly all their credibility on discipline as it is, so this just worsens the problem.

Some said he would be next in line to coach the Leafs... I think he would fit in well there.
