A busy weekend for signings as several teams locked up key pieces for the future. I'll have the weekend summary of all the missed transactions and signing around 3pm as I've got a busy Monday going on and to make matters worse the old Blackberry has died on me. Heres a few quick ones
*-> Miroslav Satans agent Alan Walsh has confirmed that the Slovakian winger is in talks with the Montreal Canadiens about a possible signing. Satan who had a decent last half of the season with the Boston Bruins last year is currently playing with HC Slovan Bratislava. Looks like Montreal is getting set to bolster their secondary scoring with a seasoned veteran in Guerin or Satan. We'll have to keep an eye open for this one.
*-> Johan Harju has been called up by the Tampa Bay Lightning from the Norfolk Admirals.
*-> Brett Sutter son of GM Brent Sutter issued a public appology today for the incident that happened last Wednesday while the Flames were in Phoenix. Sutter punched a man in the face after leaving a Phoenix bar and was arrested. The Flames sent him back to Abbotsford today. Just another string of bad news for the Flames.
*-> Lastly the New York Islanders have relieved Todd Gordon of his head coaching duties and assigned him to be GM Garth Snows personal advisor. Jack Capuano will be the interim coach until they find a suitable candidate.

A Sutter fucking up? He sure didnt get that from his dad or uncle, who have really restored the winning tradition in Calgary over the last few years. Oh wait....
Honestly though Scoopz, what do the Sutter bros have to do to finally get shown the door in that town?
Agreed... I think the only factor that keeps them there is that their decisions are usually endorsed by the fans... i.e. they love Iginla, they wanted to use Phaneuf as a scapegoat, they love Craig Conroy (even though he is really a 3rd line centre) and they don't mind trading first rounders for short-term help.
Calgary fans are very similar to Ottawa fans: most of them have no idea what wins hockey games. This would be like Ottawa trading Spezza, Kovalev, Kuba, 3 of our 4 D-studs, our next 2 first rounders for stars past their prime who have no intention of re-signing here. Not only that, but then we'd clone Mike Fisher, Chris Kelly and Matt Carkner to fill their spots, and hope that one or two of our dump ins finds the back of the net every game. GMs need to follow their own agendas, no matter how unpopular they seem at the time, and ignore media and fans who turn on their "beloved" team on a dime. Out the Sutters and put someone in there who has patience and thick skin.
