Ice Scoopz: Monday Morning

*-> Hours after Montreal GM Bob Gainey announced he will not sign Montreal superstar Alexei Kovalev even though there was huge pressure from the fans, AK27 signed with the Ottawa Senators. Yet another Montreal star to sign with a division rival.

*-> The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Francois Beauchemin.

*-> The Leafs have also signed Nazim Kadri to an entry level deal as well.

*-> The Vancouver Canucks have signed Andrew Raycroft to a year deal to backup Roberto Loungo.

Kovalev could definitely fit in with the Senators, and they did not even have to give anyone up. Plus he is often a lot of fun to watch......

Scoopz,

What do you make of the rumour mill's recent churnilng of Columbus' apparent interest in Heatley following on the heels of the Nash signing?

Think there's any chance they offer up Filatov and Russell for Dany One-N?

If true, I think Howson's crazy to tie up more than $15M in two wingers....

He'd definitely be crazy to tie up that much money in 2 players. If he was to do it, I'd rather see him add a top line center to set up Nash.

The Jackets could be a destination but I doubt Heatley would want to head there. Mt guess Brassard would be part of the deal along with the cap dump of Modin maybe.
