Ice Scoopz: Monday Late Night

Well I figure Ill get one more post in tonight as I'm watching a taped copy of the Spengler Cup match up of Dynamo vs Canada that I haven't got a chance to check out yet. Pretty good so far, Alexei Zhitnik looks invisible out there.

*-> Denis Gauthier will have to serve a 5 game suspension for his hit on Montreal's Josh Gorges.

*-> Pittsburgh's Tyler Kennedy will serve 1 game for picking a fight with Toronto's Luke Schenn. Pretty stupid call if I may say so.

*-> The Pittsburgh Penguins are in hot pursuit of former Pen Colby Armstrong of the Atlanta Thrashers. The plan would be to give the Pens some secondary scoring and someone to play with Crosby who has chemistry with him. The hopes of getting him back is a good possibility because Atlanta is really disappointed in his play this season. A mid level pick or a low end prospect could seal this one.

*-> The Edmonton Oilers are running out of patience with Dustin Penner. After a dismal season so far and being called out twice already Penner still hasn't ether got the message nor has he performed. This morning he was again reminded of his hefty contract and ran into the ground after practice. Craig McTavish forced Penner, Brodziak and another player to stay after intial practice and skated the 3 into the ground. Right now the Oilers are desprite to unload him but there are no suitors so far that want to take his bagage.
