Trade! Columbus -> Dallas

*-> the Columbus Blue Jackets have traded Dillon Heatherington to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Lauri Korpikoski.

Trade Deadline: 3:30 PM

*-> The Islanders are out for any remaining deals, they couldn't get anything going.

*-> It looks like the Bruins have added Drew Stafford of the Winnipeg Jets for a conditional 6th round pick.

*->  John Chayka has priced Radim Vrbata out of the market, and he couldn't get what he was asking so he has decided to keep Vrbata down the stretch and look at resigning him.

Trade Deadline: 3:25 PM

*-> It looks like the Washington Capitals haven't made any more moves this Deadline.

Trade Deadline: 3:20 PM

*-> It looks like both Matt Duchane and Gabriel Landeskog were not dealt today and they are finished dealing.

*-> It appears Radim Vrbata will also remain with his team the Arizona Coyotes.

*-> After the Lazar trade Calgary has stayed put.

*-> Anaheim is another team that is done.

*-> Elliott Friedman has reported that the Tampa Bay Lightning may have dealt Mark Streit to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Trade Deadline: 3:15 PM

*-> The Montreal Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres are done for the day Pierre LebRun has reported.

*-> Word out of Arizona is that Shane Doan will remain with the Coyotes.

Trade! Pittsburgh -> Toronto

*-> Toronto has eaten up some cap space for the Pittsburgh Penguins by taking Eric Fehr off the books.
Stay tuned as TSN is reporting the Penguins have another deal in the works.

**-> It looks like it's Frank Corrado with Eric Fehr back to the Penguins in return for Steve Oleksy and 2017 4th rounder.

Trade! Calgary -> Ottawa

*-> Curtis Lazar has been finally dealt by the Ottawa Senators to the Calgary Flames.

*-> It appears to be a 2nd round pick and Jyrki Jokipakka to Ottawa for Lazar and Mike Kostka.

Trade! New Jersey -> Nashville

*-> The Nashville Predators have acquired P.A Parenteau from the New Jersey Devils for a 6th round draft pick.

Trade! Philadelphia -> Tampa Bay

*-> Tampa Bay have dumped much needed cap by trading center Valtteri Filppula along with a conditional 7th round pick and a 2017 4th round pick to the Flyers for defenseman Mark Streit.

Trade Deadline: 2:35PM

*-> I'm hearing that Marc-Andre Fleury and the Penguins could be talking to the Flyers about a potential swap. Very very doubtful in my opinion. Something is going on with the Flyers not extending Mason. It doesn't make sense that the Penguins would trade their former franchise goaltender to an arch rival but anythings possible.

Trade Deadline: 2:30 PM

*-> As the time keeps ticking down on the deadline there's a brief flurry of activity of depth moves trickling in. Another minor league trade as the New York Rangers have traded forward Justin Fontaine to the Edmonton Oilers for Taylor Beck.

*-> The Dallas Stars still arn't ruling out trading Patrick Sharp, Lindy Ruff has just announced that Patrick Sharp can still play, re-stirring up the rumors again.

*-> It looks like The Canadiens are still working the phones today. The roster will look pretty revamped going into the stretch with a whole lot of new bodies.

*-> The Penguins are closing in on a defenseman.

*-> TSN has reported that Tampa Bay has dealt some cap hit for the Flyers Mark Streit.

Trade! Montreal -> Colorado

*-> Montreal have added some more size in Andreas Martinsen from the Colorado Avalanche for Sven Andrighetto.

Trade! New Jersey -> Columbus

*-> The Columbus Blue Jackets got their defensive depth in Kyle Quincey as they traded Dalton Prout to acquire him from the New Jersey Devils.

Trade Deadline: 1:56 PM

*-> The Boston Bruins have reportedly kicked tires on Shane Doan, but their first concern is bringing in a reliable back up and defensive depth as previously mentioned.  They also have seamed to have bailed out of the Gabriel Landeskog rumors.

*-> Colorado have seamed to have priced themselves completely out of trading Matt Duchene today. That all could change today once Vrbata goes or a rival club makes a major addition that tempts a buyer into making a major move.  For now it's a quiet on the trade front.

*-> Tampa Bay has traded Adam Wilcox to Florida for Mike McKenna in a minor league goaltending swap.

*-> The Dallas Stars would like to dump one more body today but their running out of options. Depth forward Lauri Korpikoski appears to be the last option for the Stars to move without touching their current roster.

*-> The Devils are willing to listen to most players on their roster today not named Hall or Schneider.  Mike Cammalleri wants out but the interest isn't there to create a deal, nor is their cap space around the league.

*-> The Leafs are very quiet, just looking to make some minor moves at this point unless a young defenseman falls into their sights.

*-> Sabres still not looking at asking Brian Gionta to waive his no trade.

Trade Deadline: 1:35 PM

The Rumors have gone to a crawl the last half hour. Hopefully things start picking up down the stretch to the wire.

*-> Arthur Staple is reporting that despite the rumors Josh Ho-Sang isn't being shopped he's been told.  also there appears to be some steam regaining in the Jordan Eberle to the Islanders rumors again. We'll have to watch this one. The whole JHS mystery trail appears to have ended which must have been a confusing few days for him.

*-> The Boston Bruins have taken a hard look at Dmitri Kulikov of the Sabres.

*-> The Lightning are having a really tough day and time trying to move Valtteri Filppula. He's been reported to be shooting down deals left right and center. The Lightning would love to get rid of his cap hit to clear up cap space for Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat. It's looking more and more like Johnson will be the odd guy out.

*-> Pittsburgh is still pushing hard for a depth defenseman, I'm still hearing Del Zotto.

*-> The Dallas Stars were in hard early on Marc-Andre Fleury early on, one would wonder what it would take for Fleury to solve the Stars goaltending issues.

*-> Florida is looking at veteran Mark Streit but it's still not known if Streit is willing to waive his clause for anyone.

Trade Deadline: 1:17 PM

*-> All of the Winnipeg Jets are currently on the ice practicing this morning.

*-> It still appears Montreal is attempting to bring in a scoring winger, their being heavily linked to Radim Vrbata still.

*-> The Flyers have announced they've resigned P.E Bellemare and Michael Neuvirth to new deals taking the both of them off the market.

*-> The Kings Colorado Iginla deal is done now, it looks like the return is a conditional 4th round pick.

*-> I'm still hearing a ton on the Calgary Flames working on a deal, still not sure what it could be. Some are still saying that it could be a deal for a goaltender.

*-> I'm also hearing that the Isles are pushing super hard for a game breaking deal. It may be the deal that Josh Ho-Sang appears to be a part of. Could they be shelling out for Matt Duchene?

*-> The Bruins are prepared to pay in terms of cap hit for a reliable backup goaltender, their situation has been a mess all season long and would like to go into the playoffs and next season with some support. Steve Mason and Jaroslav Halak are names that keep resurfacing.

*-> Florida would like to add another defenseman to help run their P.P.

*-> Nashville really wants to make a move but is having trouble finding a potential suitor. They might stand pat if nothing jumps out.

*-> Vancouver has nothing on the burners at the moment. They appear to be stalled on the Ryan Miller front.

Trade! Los Angeles -> Colorado

*-> It's still not 100% yet but Jarome Iginla has been dealt pending a trade call to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional draft pick.

Trade Deadline: 12:47 PM

*-> Pierre-Edouard Bellemare appears close to re-signing with the Philadelphia Flyers so cross him off the list.

*-> Still no word on the re-signing of Michael Neuvirth yet.

*-> Pierre LeBrun is reporting that Montreal still isn't done shopping yet. That's the sense I'm getting as well, there's a big move to be had still for Montreal.

*-> Ottawa is determined to resolve this Lazar situation. They'd love to be able to turn Lazar into a high end prospect they really covet to recover for the Jonathan Dahlen deal. It appears they'll make a move by 3pm.

*-> Carolina have told teams that Teuvo Teravainen is available for the right price.

*-> The Tampa Bay Lightning are trying to deal ether Valtteri Filppula or Tyler Johnson. Filppula rejected a deal to the Leafs recently. He determines his own fate so they seam to be leaning towards moving Johnson since they can control the return and destination.

*-> Still no word on Shane Doan and if he'll waive his no trade clause today. Arizona's priority at this point has to maximizing their return for the hottest trade target of the day. Once Vrbata goes there should be a series of deals falling into place.

*-> Los Angeles have a deal in the works, which was the reasoning behind the Dwight King deal. It's rumored to be an Iginla deal but they were also in on Thomas Vanek so maybe more to come.

Trade! Montreal -> Los Angeles

*-> The Montreal Canadiens have added size and grit by adding Dwight King from the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional 4th round pick.

Trade Deadline: 12:25 PM

*-> Jaroslav Halak doesn't appear to be going anywhere unless the team inquiring is willing to take on his full cap hit according to Arthur Staple. The Isles don't appear to be make that sacrifice today for the sake of moving him off their books.

*-> Another bit of Isles news they appear to be in serious talks with a team that has required Joshua Ho-Sang to be a part of it. Stay tuned from Long Island.

*-> The Vancouver Canucks have claimed Joseph Cramarossa off of Anaheim.

Trade! -> Florida-> Detroit

*-> TSN has broke the first major trade of the day! Florida has traded defenseman Dylan McIlrath and a 2017 3rd round pick for Detroit's Thomas Vanek.

Trade Deadline: 11:51 AM

*-> P.A Parenteau's finger injury is considered minor as reports have come out of team practice this morning. He's at practice so it appears to be a good sign. Still hearing only Ottawa and St. Louis as potential partners for New Jersey.

*-> The Jets appear to have had way more interest in Drew Stafford than expected today. Absolutely no interest in Ondrej Pavelec.

*-> The word out of Philly after Couturier was pulled from practice is that it was a trainer issue stemming from a fight injury nothing imminent on the trade front.

*-> Vrbata remains the prime target this morning so far. Most teams are circling back to Arizona and checking in if your a team looking for offensive help. He's by far the hottest thing this morning. Calgary has apparently entered the frey hard.

*-> Jesper Fast was announced to be out indefinite after a separated shoulder so the New York Rangers could be back in the market for some depth.

*-> Another minor trade from the Colorado Avalanche who just dealt defenseman Cody Corbett to the Washington Capitals for goaltender Joe Cannata.

Trade Deadline: Breaking News

*-> Flyers forward Sean Couturier has been pulled from practice, this could be something to watch going forward. Tim Panaccio has reported he wasn't injured and practice has just begun.

Trade Deadline: 11:30 AM

*-> TSN is reporting that Jarome Iginla and the Colorado Avs have has some mild interest from the Kings and he's had some mild interest towards the Kings. It's not an ideal situation for Iggy as the Kings aren't exactly a contender nor in the playoffs currently. It might take some major maneuvering to fit him under the cap.  I'm hearing the Oilers have mild interest to help give the kids some much needed experience and some depth on the wing. We'll have to watch this one.

*-> Darren Dreger of TSN is also reporting Montreal is now in on the Radim Vrbata sweepstakes.

*-> The Pittsburgh Penguins could be in on the Flyers Michael  Del Zotto.

*-> The Calgary Flames have mild interest in M. A Fleury in the past weeks but it's gone quiet as of late. There is something rumbling in Calgary this morning. They may be the first to make a move.

*-> It looks like Patrick Sharp wont be able to be traded today according to reports. His hip injury wont pass any suitors team physical so it looks like the Stars will be forced to pull the plug on his season.

*-> Kyle Quincey is still out there waiting for a deal to happen, it looks like he's been told that he'll be on the move today. Pittsburgh was rumored early but it appears their looking elsewhere.

*-> The Oilers and the Leafs are talking about a potential cap swap....maybe Benoit Pouliot? Maybe Ference's cap hit? Not sure how that would work.

*-> Minny doesn't appear to be done, could be a depth defense move after the Suter injury last night although it doesn't appear to be serious?

Trade Deadline: 11 AM

Still absolutely nothing but a minor league swap this morning. It is expected though, usually it doesn't pick up till after lunch and a few deals trickle in.  I get the sense most teams have made their major moves leading up to today so it may be even slower than usual.

A few Buffalo notes to note:

*-> Evander Kane isn't likely to go anywhere today but there is a chance. The Sabres aren't going to give him away and with his recent play he may have played himself off the block. The Canucks would love to do what Edmonton did and get a big banging forward that can score to play with their kids. Kane fits the bill but is a guy that would be a good fit in the room.  Do the Canucks want to actually deal picks and prospects in a rebuild? The biggest question though for the Canucks is this officially a rebuild?

*-> It doesn't look like Briain Gionta wants to leave the Sabre's there is hope if a Eastern Coference team approachs the Sabres might be able to entice him to waive his no trade.

Trade Deadline: 10:42AM

*-> Pierre LeBrun is reporting that the Flyers are close to resigning goaltender Michael Neuvirth so does that mean Steve Mason could be out there? A major goaltending deal coming?

*-> The Toronto Maple Leafs are telling teams that they'll take unwanted cap and or bad contracts in return for prospects and picks. Roman Polak could be had if any teams were interested.

*-> The New York Rangers appear to be done unless something kicks down their door.

*-> More out of Ottawa, the sense is that Ottawa wont let 3pm go by without moving Curtis Lazar. It's rumored his agent has asked for a chance else where and the Sens don't want to sit on him unhappy in the room so it's an interesting situation. He's been bumped down the line-up again by the new additions. It's looking like they'll push the matter today.

*-> Florida is the leader for Thomas Vanek currently, but it looks like the Red Wings want to wait for Vrbata to drop first so they can raise the price.

*_> A minor deal the Colorado Avalanche have acquired Brandon Rantford from the Arizona Coyotes for Joe Whitney.

*-> P.A Parenteau has been linked to the St. Louis Blues......

Trade Deadline: 10:15AM

*-> The San Jose Sharks are taking some heat for that Jannik Hansen for Goldobin deal from their fans. Many expected more for a prospect like Goldobin but hopes are high the Sharks go all in today. There's no major rumors spiraling out of the Bay but minor back up goaltending and bottom six depth inquiries.

*-> Does St. Louis add defensive depth to recover for Kevin Shattenkirk? Many are believe that the Blues will make a move even if it's minor depth addition if it fits into the cap.

*-> No truth to the Claude Giroux to Montreal rumors. It appears to be a rumor that spiraled out of control on the internet late last night by hopeful fans.

*-> Tyler Johnson is in play today, the Lightning aren't going to give him away without addressing a need. Once again Carolina or Anaheim seam like the best options to provide the Lightning with a young defenseman.

*-> The Flames might be up to something this morning in regards to the goaltending situation....

Trade Deadline: 10AM

*-> Reports out of Edmonton have the Oilers brass looking at upgrading their 3rd or 4th line wing for the right price. Lauri Korprikoski is a name that has recently popped up and has familiarity with Oil Country.

*-> TSN is reporting although P.A Parenteau has been listed as a potential trade candidate leading up to the Deadline but news on his injury after blocking a shot is he's not quite ready.  Teams are weary right now but once the dominos fall they might circle back.

*-> TSN is also reporting on the injury front that Patrick Sharp's nagging hip injury is of major concern to potential suitors. He may be staying put today.

Trade Deadline: 9:45AM

*-> The Boston Bruins are in on Thomas Vanek this morning. Add them to Los Angeles, Calgary, Florida and a few others. No chance Montreal get's in on this bidding this time around.

*-> The Islanders are telling teams they won't be moving Travis Hamonic despite his previous request last season to be moved to be closer to his family.

*-> Winnipeg appears to be ok with standing pat even with their UFA's unless they get a team knocking at their door.

Usually around 10 am we start getting the healthy scratches from this mornings round of practices so that's something to look forward to in 15 minutes. Other than that it's a typical slow Trade Deadline day morning but stay tuned!

Trade Deadline: 9:30AM

*-> Teams looking add some young offense might turn today to Colorado who appear to be giving up on Mikhail Grigorenko. He appears to be ready for a last chance situation and with Patrick Roy out of the picture the Avs might move him for whatever they can get. He's got size and skill but just hasn't put it together yet.

*-> The Toronto Maple Leafs have been looking hard at defensemen but only on the hockey trade level not a rental. The Leafs are still content if they manage to miss the playoffs.

*-> The Buffalo Sabres have started the wheels in motion to move out a defenseman by bringing in depth defense in the minors yesterday.  Cody Franson and Dmitri Kulikov are the two likely options with Dmitri Kulikov being the leagues runner up after the Brandon Smith deal yesterday.

*-> The Los Angeles Kings are looking at scoring and it looks like Thomas Vanek is the guy they covet mainly because of his cap hit. The Kings don't have much to work with.

*-> The Vancouver Canucks are shopping Philip Larson to teams looking for a cheap offensive d-man option as they would love to give some of their younger prospects the chance to sign down the stretch.

*-> Jarome Iginla will be moved today it's known but the interest isn't exactly what Joe Sakic or Iginla hoped.  There's talk the Flames would love to bring Iggy home but they arn't willing to talk prospects and only late picks.  The Bruins have also been willing to bring back Iggy but they too are not willing to part with anything of note. Both teams aren't exactly what Iggy was hoping for with this most likely being his last shot at the cup and both teams being heavy underdogs.

*-> Florida might be willing to revisit Jiri Hudler to avoid disrupting chemistry.

*-> The Islanders will be doing something today but nothing major yet. The feeling out of Long Island is they have to make a deal to try and get in otherwise they lose out on the Barclays money. They also as mentioned before they need to show not only their waning fanbase and Johnny T that they are serious about winning.

*-> St. Louis were expecting more chatter around Vladimir Sobotka after they leaked his availability around the league. Nothing at all brewing on that front.

*-> Mike Ribeiro is not being talked about but the Nashville Predators would be willing to move him for minor league depth. He's expiring and teams at this point know what they get with Ribeiro so someone desperate for offensive help on the powerplay up the middle could take a bite.

*-> Montreal is still in on Duchene this morning...

Trade Deadline: 9:00AM

*-> The Columbus Blue Jackets are interested in adding a depth veteran defenseman to help insulate and insure their young back end today.  The added M.A Bergeron to help on the offensive side of things but on the defensive side they need help. Fedor Tyutin is a guy that has strong ties to Columbus and would come cheap for the Jackets.

*-> While on the subject of Colorado Rene Bourque has actually had mild interest leading up to today. Teams looking to not break the bank or spend  may want to take a look at the low risk Bourque who can play up the line up and has a history of getting hot in the playoffs. The Flames have been mentioned in rumors.

*-> No word yet if Brian Gionta is willing to waive his no trade clause to go to a contender or even if the Sabres are willing to move their captain.

*-> TSN is reporting that Florida was all in on Hansen before he was dealt yesterday so they could be a contender for Thomas Vanek or Radim Vrbata.

*-> The Calgary Flames would love to move Dennis Wideman today for anything possible but the interest is at an all time low and that's scary considering the incident last season.

Trade Deadline: 8:45AM

*-> The Pittsburgh Penguins still don't appear to be sold on moving Marc-Andre Fleury yet. They'd love to add another defenseman and another forward but the cap space is so tight. Clearing out Fleury would free up a ton of space and they eventually have to move them before the expansion draft but the sense is they'll keep him as insurance for a playoff run unless they get blown away. The Dallas Stars would love to add Fleury but the asking price might be too steep. Some are saying that a Sharp and Niemi swap for Fleury was proposed early on.

*-> The Edmonton Oilers most likely won't be making a major move TSN reports along with the news that the Oilers aren't actively shopping Jordan Eberle.

*-> The Flyers appear to be just willing to play the wait and see game in regards to making the playoffs so their pending free agents are willing to peddle any UFA's on their roster. Some Western teams have kicked tires on P.E Bellemare.

Trade Deadline: 8:30AM

*-> The New York Islanders are considered the front runners for Matt Duchene, they need to show John Tavares their serious in the next season otherwise they'll lose their franchise heart and soul.  The Islanders have a few defensive prospects but even more so they have some high end forward prospects they might be able to dangle to the Avs along with some picks.

*-> Alexei Emelin could be out the door in Montreal with two gritty defensemen brought in the past few days.  Montreal could use the cap relief from Emelin's heavy cap hit.

*-> The Chicago Blackhawks are looking at a small minor upfront addition. They don't appear to be looking at something major today but the Hawks are known to go all in if they see something that can add and is a fit. Patrick Sharp has been on their radar but the cap hit might not be swallowable.

*-> Doesn't look like Mark Streit is willing to waive his no trade clause for the Flyers. He'd like to stay in Philly but what happen's if the Flyers tell him that they wont be resigning him?

*-> The Tampa Bay Lightning might be willing to move Tyler Johnson for a defenseman today. The Hurricanes keep coming up every time a center is mentioned.

Coffee time be back soon...

Trade Deadline: 8:15AM

*-> TSN is reporting that up to 8 teams are kicking tires on Radim Vrbata of the Arizona Coyotes.  He appears to be a lock to go today. The Ottawa Senators are believed to have checked in.

*-> Speaking of the Ottawa Senators they seam keen to use Curtis Lazar to add some offense or to off set some of their picks lost this Deadline week. The asking price is a first but as of yesterday the rumor has only one team offering a 2nd so that's something to watch.

*-> The San Jose Sharks are looking at Ryan Miller. It's believed their on his 5 team list as well as Los Angeles and Anaheim.  The Kings have already added their depth goaltending and the Ducks appeared to be set till John Gibson went down. He could be an extra insurance move for the Ducks and competition for the Sharks to add an experienced goaltender. The sense is Miller would be willing to waive his no trade for a contender.

*-> The Ducks don't appear to be willing to move one of their young d men today for some help, it's a move they'd like to do at the draft in order to not lose one to Las Vegas. Carolina on the other hand is willing to move one of their many d-men as long as they can add a center in return. Is Matt Duchane the right fit?

*-> No word on Shane Doan yet, it appears that he would like to be moved but only to the right location. He's not willing to leave Arizona unless it's the right fit with a contender.  Despite the direction he feels Arizona is taking he still wouldn't mind retiring a Coyote.

Trade Deadline: 8:00AM

*-> The New York Islanders were pushing Jaroslav Halak pretty hard yesterday and were sitting on a few offers. It'll be interesting to see today if the interest keeps up and if Halak gets dealt.  The Bruins and the Oilers were two of the rumored teams but I wouldn't be surprised if the Flames took a look as well.

*-> The sense around the league is Montreal isn't done yet. Their carrying 8 defensemen and have still yet to address their major concern...their lack of offense.  This is their window and I wouldn't be surprised if they went all in after the acquisitions of Steve Ott, Jordie Benn and Brandon Davidson.  A cheap addition to the wing could potentially separate them from the rest in the Atlantic.

*-> Speaking of the Atlantic Division Florida needs to do something quick. the rest of the Atlantic division is stocking up and their on the outside looking in still. Dale Tallon isn't afraid to make a deadline move and has already stated he'd rather be adding than subtracting.

*-> Detroit will continue to sell today, Vanek doesn't appear to be keen to stay in Detroit next season and with him being the last UFA that brings him a return he's prime to be moved. Many are wondering if the Wings would be willing to move Gustav Nyqvist or Tomas Tatar for an inflated price to kick off a rebuild.

*-> With Winnipeg losing last night it doesn't look hopeful with them being 5 points out.  Will they move some bodies out and focus on next year or will they try to make an addition to help catch up.  They'd love to move the often injured Drew Stafford for anything they can get regardless. Ondrej Pavelec is another guy to keep an eye on. He's clearly out the door next season and many teams could use a decent backup.

*-> The St. Louis Blues after losing defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk need to do something to give the fans some hope. The budget doesn't call for anything major but any kind of addition would show their not ready to surrender their wildcard spot.

Top 10 Trade Targets 2017

The Top 10 Most Likely To Be Traded Today

1. Thomas Vanek - LW - Detroit
Vanek is probably Detroit's biggest asset, he's had a resurgence with a brilliant year and also has the best cap hit of the proven goal scorers on the market. He's also a UFA so can't see him not going today.

2. Radim Vrbata - RW - Arizona
Another cheap cap hit but the difference is between him and Vanek is Vrbata comes with a bonus laden contract to pay out at the end of the season for any team acquiring the Czech sniper. He's a UFA and with Arizona blowing it up he'll be dealt.

3. Jarome Iginla - RW - Colorado
Though the future Hall of Famer has slowed down drastically and may pretty much only be used in a checking role and net presence he still brings a big time leadership into any room needing a veteran presence. He's asked for one last shot at a cup and I can't see Sakic holding him back even if the return is tiny.

4. Kyle Quincey - D - New Jersey
Stable, reliable and cheap, what teams couldn't use a defenseman with those tags for playoff depth? We already know their working the phones for Quincey since he was held out of the game in Montreal on Monday night.

5. Patrick Sharp - LW/C - Dallas
A proven winner and one of the last few real marquee names out there on an expiring contract, He can play center if needed and special teams. He's a guy that could put a contender over the top this Spring but he wont come cheap.

6. P.A Parenteau - RW - New Jersey
The second Devil to make this list due to his in expensive price tag that expires at seasons end. He comes with a lot less fan fare and pedigree but it's no secret Parenteau can get hot and score.  Teams losing out may kick the tires on this start of the season waiver claim.

7. Jaroslav Halak - G - New York Islanders
The guy had a bad stretch with a bad contract and found himself in the minors with another year left on his deal.  He had a phenomenal World Cup which could be the reason he faltered during the regular season. We know the Isles have had offers and he'd be a guy that could easily take on a backup role.

8. Dmitri Kulikov - D - Buffalo
The Sabres have already made an insurance move yesterday bringing in minor league D help which could be a sign their ready to move on from Kulikov and Franson. Kulikov is the more desirable asset as he's has a higher potential. Who knows maybe away from a bottom feeder on a lower depth chart he might pay out as a rental  for a contender.

9. Jay McClement - C - Carolina
One of Carolina's last trade chips unless their going to do a strictly hockey deal for that center they've been looking for. He's a veteran presence on the 4th line and a key faceoff man. He's also expendable since he's expiring.

10. Jiri Hudler - LW - Dallas
Another offensive minded player on an expiring contract. Hudler appears to be slowing down but on a cheap tag and an expiring contract for a budget contender he could be a cheap pick up that doesn't put em over the cap.

**Notice I left the big fish of the list like Matt Duchane or Gabriel Landeskog as the Avs don't need to move them. They'd like to but they aren't stuck today moving them, they could easily wait till the draft, These guys are known guys that are being shopped and have realistic trade potential.

2017 Trade Deadline

We're officially back! No better time to reboot and start over again than the Trade Deadline. The most exciting day in hockey.  I'll be live all day starting at 7 am with minute by minute updates leading all the way until 5 pm today.

After a pre-deadline flurry yesterday I don't know exactly what to expect today. In the past few deadlines it's been extremely slow but mainly due to the leagues parity. This year and especially after last night the playoff potentials have thinned out a little more allowing teams to get off the fence. Another major factor is a really weak draft year with teams willing to sacrifice their picks. Many teams are also starting to realize that getting something back for an expiring contract is key to future success rather than lose them for nothing.

When I return I'll break down whose left to be potentially dealt and get the rumors under way. See you in 15.
