The Heatley Saga Continues
*-> Dany Heatley has reportedly refused the trade to Edmonton therefore it forces Ottawa to take the 4$Mil bonus hit but fortunatly it doesn't effect the salary cap. No reason yet for the refusal and I'm sure theres more to follow.

Ice Scoopz: Trade - > Heatley Saga Almost Over!
*-> It was recently reported by RDS that the Heatley Saga is almost over. The Ottawa Senators have a deal in place for Dany Heatley finally. The Senators would send Dany Heatley to the Edmonton Oilers for Ladislav Smid, Dustin Penner and Andrew Cogliano. All that's stopping the Sens from moving on in this chapter is Dany Heatley's no movement clause. I feel chances are this will be a done deal because bother parties would love to end this asap.
A decent deal for Ottawa but by no means got full value. Dustin Penner is a huge cap hit for not a whole lot while Ladislav Smid who is still an RFA which should be a problem. Andrew Cogliano is an above average player but is no 50 goal scorer they need to replace.

*-> Mike Komisarek of the Montreal Canadians has announced he is heading to free agency tomorow. His agent said Montreal's offers so far have been sub par and he'd like to still remain with the Canadian's but would still like to test the water to see whats avaliable first. This comes as disapointing news to Habs fans as Montreal will most likely not retain his services. The New York Islanders and the Ottawa Senators are rumored to be interested.
*-> The Calgary Flames have solidified their backend for years! Marquee free agent Jay Bouwmeester has officially signed a 5 year deal worth 6.6Mil$ per season. The Flames acquired Jay Bouwmeester's rights at the draft this past Friday from the Florida Panthers for Jordon Leopold, and a 3rd round pick which Josh Berkholtz was selected with. This could be bad news for the Flames free agents as they are struggling with the cap and may need to clear more salary.
*-> Chris Neil has turned down an offer worth 1.7$Mil this evening from the Ottawa Senators. the rugged winger is reportedly asking for a raise of 2.5$Mil for several years which Ottawa is reluctant to put on the table. Neil is a wanted commodity out West and could easily meet his demands through free agency. The San Jose Sharks and Minnesota Wild are expected to make offers come 12pm tomorrow.
*-> Jere Lehtinen the veteran winger of the Dallas Stars has accepted an offer of 1.5$Mil plus over a million in bonuses to keep him in Dallas for yet another year. Truly a steal for the Stars as Lehtinen is one of the best two-way forwards around and if he stays healthy makes an instant impact.

Ice Scoopz: Draft Day Afternoon
*-> The talks are heating up at the predraft meetings. The Tampa Bay Lightning are trying to make an important decision on whether or not to trade Vinny or not. The Montreal Canadians have been presuing the star center since trade deadline last season. The habs have reportedly offered Tomas Plecanec, Chris Higgins, Pk Subban and their 1st round for him but the Lightning are looking for a defenseman. They would love Andrei Markov but he is untouchable. Mike Komisarek would also do it but the Lightning want him signed to a deal first.
Another front runner appears to be the San Jose Sharks but they would want a major a major cap dump. The rumor out there is Joe Thornton.

Ice Scoopz: Thursday Morning -> Draft Day Closing In
With less than a day before the draft the rumors continue to swirl around the league. It looks more and more likely that Danny Heatley and quite possibly Vincent Lecavalier will be moved at the draft . Leafs also have stated they would love to jump up in the draft as well.
*-> Sergei Fedorov has officially signed in the KHL with Metallurg Magnitogorsk as previosuly reported on Ice Scoopz. All that is know at this time is that Sergei wanted to furfil his fathers dream of the two Fedorov brothers (Fedor and Sergei) playing together on the same team. It is also reported to be a 2 year deal worth 2MIL$ a season.
*-> Aging defenseman Chris Chelios has stated this week that he definatly wants to keep playing for atleast another year now that Detroit has officially stated that he would no longer be part of their plans for the future. Chelios has no hard feelings about his parting with Detroit and will wait to receive offers from other teams. Is it rumored that Chicago one of his former teams is interested in bringing him on as a 6th to help their young mature. Chelios has also said if he does not receive an offer 2 months into the season he would officially retire.
*-> Rumors out of New York claim the Rangers are close to a deal with Ottawa for Danny Heatley. The deal reportedly on the table is for Chris Drury and Bobby Sanguinetti. The Rangers would love to swap Scott Gomez directly but Ottawa is seeking a impact roster player and ether a high draft pick or a blue chip prospect and it is highly unlikely they'd take such a high salary in return. Prospect Derek Stephan and winger Nikolai Zherdev are another two players that keep getting mentioned in the New York media.
Heatley is also hot talk in Colorado where the Avalanche look to rebuild for next season. Heatley would be a great addition as he is signed long term and could be the building point of a franchise. The return subject is where this rumor sorta falls off. The Avalanche are not interested in parting with any picks, prospects or young players other than Marek Svatos. John Michael Liles is another name been thrown about but he alone is not going to get a deal done with Ottawa. Ryan Smyth would be a name Ottawa is interested in and a player who could possibly turn the dressing room around an reunite the troops. Although Smyth told the media last deadline he is happy in Colorado and would not waive his no trade for any team. Would the prospect of coming back home to Canada sway his mind? Especially the nations capital?
Another Heatley rumor out there is the Chicago Blackhawks is highly interested in replacing Martin Havlat with Danny Heatley. Chicago would have to give up one of their 3 stud defensemen in Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook or Cam Barker with only the later in play. Barker who has been slow to develop would be much welcome in the Ottawa organization. Chicago's late 1st round draft pick plus Barker might be able to get a deal done, with hopes Ottawa can land a top line winger via free agency.
*-> Speaking of Marty Havlat, he recently posted on his blog he is enjoying his vacation and hopes to return to Chicago next season. It is his primary choice to resign in Chicago and his agent will continue talks this weekend in Montreal to try and get a deal worked out by July 1st.
*-> Rumors have been out of control this week in Vancouver due to a recent article stating Marian Gaborik has bought a house in the Vancouver area late last week. to add more fuel to the fire the Gaborik and Demetra are best of friends and have been dying to reunite together and Vancouver could be the destination now it looks like the Sedins will walk.
Part two of this rumor is that it is entirely false that Gaborik has purchased a home in Vancouver. Pavol Demetra appeared on a radio interview this week and crushed many Vancouver fans hopes by saying Gaborik has not bought a house and has not dicussed reuniting in vancouver with him although it would be much welcomed.
*-> Tsn reports the San Jose Sharks are shopping Ryan Clowe hard in Montreal today. the leafs have shown interest but San Jose is asking for their 1st round pick a price the Leafs wont pay. The Philly Flyers are also in the hunt but do not want to part with winger Claude Giroux.
*-> Last of all Tsn is also reporting that Jay Bouwmeester's rights are close to being dealt and they are expected to go soon.

Ice Scoopz: Heatley Rumors Heating Up
*-> As Many Ottawa fans anxiously and patiently await to see who may replace their star winger , GM Bryan Murray continues to work the phones. The Heatley Trade Countdown has begun as each day draws closer to the NHL Entry Draft next Friday and with July 1st Free Agency also creeping up. The rumors are heating up as most analysts believe Bryan Murray will trade Heater before the July 1st free agency period. Why? Because it only makes perfect sense. If the Sens decided to stupidly wait past July 1st they will be forced to pay Heatley a 4 Million$ bonus which although doesn't effect the cap it does however cost the team a large sum for someone who doesn't want to play there. Another key point is that Heatleys 7.5$ MIL salary could be used to lure in an impact free agent and we all know that most of the big names are gone within a two week period. So why would Bryan Murray wait to move Heatley? He's not. Realistically the GM would love to get rid of Heatley before or during the draft so not only could they get an impact player but also a draft pick in return. It isn't all positive for the Sens ether. Because Heatley decided to leak his trade request to the media he has handicapped Bryan Murray. Murray's fellow GM's now know Heatley wants out and the Sens are going to be forced to deal him quickly because of July 1st and the Draft. This should lower his price just a little. On top Heatley has a no movement clause which allows Heatley to choose his destination, so Heatley goes only where Heatley wants. Another discount. Finally Heatleys massive contract will have to be absorbed somehow and the Sens will almost certainly be asked to take cap space in return. thus reducing Heatley's value even more. So that's what we know so far.
What will Bryan Murray be able to do? Where will Heatley land? Who will Ottawa get? We know that Heatley would realistically like to play out West so the Western conference is most likely where he'll end up. If they did manage to swing a deal in the East we do know that "career stop" Ottawa, and "memory lane" Atlanta are out of the picture. Today Brian Burke of the Toronto Maple Leaf's said his club will 100% be out of the Heatley trade due to the way Heatley handled himself during this whole mess. Count T-dot out. The rumored teams so far have been Vancouver who most likely will lose their only offence the Sedins, The Calgary Flames, The Edmonton Oilers, and the LA Kings.
The Vancouver Canucks are in a dangerous situation in which they might lose 75% of their offence come July 1st. The Sedins don't appear to be happy with the offers so far made by the Canucks. This leaves Vancouver with a very large hole to fill on an already offence dry team. Heatley would be an instant fix and would cost less than resigning both Sedins. The rumored player to be traded in return is Loungo which personally I find ridiculous. Why would they deal a franchise goalie and the captain? I say the more likely scenario is Ottawa gets Michael Grabner or Jannick Hansen and their 1st or 2nd in this years draft. They mad be out an impact player now but they restock their system with a pretty decent prospect and a late 1st round pick before going out on July 1st and spending that 7.5$ MIL without having to worry about any trade back salary.
The Calgary Flames also have been mentioned several times mainly I believe because Alberta is Heatleys home province. Heatley for Phaneuf is the on going rumor in the hockey world but like the Vancouver rumor, I highly doubt Calgary would part with such an impact defenseman who is likely going to be a cornerstone in their franchise for years to come. It doesn't make sense. Also Calgary has major cap issues and would love to resign Mike Camalleri. Unless Ottawa is willing to take Olli Jokinen and Corey Sarich's salaries in return this deal won't work. It doesn't make sense for Ottawa as they already have a number one center and several aging old style NHL defenseman as it is.
The Edmonton Oilers another Alberta connection team could have what it takes to get a deal done with Ottawa. They have been seeking a star player for quite sometime and a hometown player would be sure to put the fans over. Rumor has it that Edmonton has a deal on the table that includes Sheldon Souray, Gilbert Brule and Patrick O'Sullivan for Heater. Another name being thrown about is defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky. Ottawa would really love to have that powerplay quarterback and their salaries would almost offset but I think Ottawa is looking for a player for the top line and secondary scoring before they touch defensemen. Edmonton also has struggling should have been star Robbie Shremp and most likely bust Gilbert Brule they may be able to toss in as a throw in to per sway Murray.
L.A is another interesting scenario which has been all over the media just simply because they have a deep talent pool of prospects and a boatload of cap space. The deal rumored so far is Alexander Frolov and this years 2nd for Heatley. It's a decent trade but I think Ottawa is looking for something else like a throw in or a prospect to weigh the scales a little better. Ted Purcell should be the prospect is after but defenseman Vyacheslav Voinov is the more likely prospect to be thrown in due to LA's defensive logjam.

Breaking News
*-Hockey insider Cody Ackland has reported that Ottawa forward Danny Heatley has officially requested a trade out of the Nations capitol. It offically came to light today but has been a request since late last season. GM Bryan Murray has said he will take a look at his options in the next couple of days to what the next step is.for now he says Heatley is still under contract so he is still a Sen. Rumor has it is that Heatley has been unhappy with his role and the multiple coaching changes in the last year and a bit. He is also rumored to be interested in heading out West. Vancouver has been linked.

Ice Scoopz: Wednesday Night
Heres tonight's news..
*-> The Ottawa Senator's have signed interm coach Cory Clouston to a two-year deal to removed the interm coach label from his resume. The Senators have turned around their game since Clouston took over for Craig Hartsburg. Senator's owner Eugene Melnyk has also announced that Bryan Murray the Senator's GM doesn't have to worry about his job this summer as he will be retained for his final year of his contract.
Personally I feel Murray should be handed his walking papers because he allowed the Sens to crumble and fall before he decided to fix things. Melnyk's reasoning of Murray saw the problem and addressed it really doesn't make sense. He only jumped in and fixed things after it was already too late. The Sens knew all season long they needed goaltending help and that the lockerroom was a mess so why address it near the end of the season? He's slowly allowed the Sens to spiral since making it to the cup finals. Hopefully the Sens will be able to compete next year with the addition of just Pascal Leclaire.
*-> Linus Omark the YouTube highlight sensation has turned down an offer from the Edmonton Oilers to play in the KHL next season. Omark who is a top scorer in the Swedish Elite League is a 4th round draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2007 and has been in deep negotiations with the club since the SEL season ended. Omark signed a 1.2$ MIL 1st year then a 1.4$ MIL second year deal with Moscow Dynamo which includes a North American escape clause after the second deal. His agent claimed the deal was made after realising the Oilers would not be able to compete with the Russian money been thrown his clients way.
*-> Doug Weight of the New York Islanders has signed a one year extension to remain with the struggling Islanders next season. Weight who made 1.75$ MIL this season will jump to 2$ MIL next season. Weight who missed most of the season with an injury has 9 goals and 26 assists in just over 50 games.

Ice Scoopz: Late Monday Night
After a busy few days, I'm back into the flow of things so here's tonights Ice Scoopz,
*-> Brian Kilrea has officially retired from coaching after the Niagra Ice Dog's eliminated the Ottawa 67's in overtime of game 7 tonight. Andrew Agozzini scored 13 seconds into overtime to eliminate the 67's. Brian Kilrea will hang over the clipboard and take a seat in the office next season as the 67's GM. Kilrea who has coached teams to 3 OHL titles and 2 Memorial Cup wins never really got a break coaching in NHL except as the Islanders assistant before being fired. Being from Ottawa this is huge news as Kilrea's a local legend and one of the most approachable guys in the business. There was allways time for the fans and to talk hockey no matter what. Great guy despite his "Killer" moniker.
*-> The Toronto Maple Leaf's have signed centerman Christian Hansen of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a two year entry level contract. An interesting fact Christian Hansen is the son of Dave Hansen of the Hanson Brothers from the movie Slapshot.
*-> Tonight after losing 5-2 to the Florida Panthers, the Ottawa Senator's have finally been eliminated from the playoffs. They needed atleast 1 point tonight to stay in the hunt. Toronto also has been eliminated from the playoffs after Montreal won tonight.
That's all for tonight, tomorrow I'll do a run down of the CHL, SM Liiga and SEL playoffs as well as an I.R Report. for those of you asking about the Deadline review I've decided to post it after the last game of the season to show who has had the biggest impacts on their teams. As of right now I'm still sticking with the Flames though. Jokinen has been a force since arriving from the desert.

Ice Scoopz: Monday Evening -> Avery On Re-Entry Waivers
*-> The Dallas Star's have placed super pest Sean Avery on re-entry waivers today after announcing it Friday afternoon. The Dallas Stars are hoping that the New York Ranger's are going to claim him for their playoff run. There has been no secret that the Ranger's want Sean back and having to pay only half his salary should help that cause. If the Ranger's don't claim him it's highly unlikely another team will. Rumors say Avery hasn't been the same player since he got back from his rehab program. My thinking is that he just needs some time to get game ready and that also he's playing soft because he's hoping a team will grab him and he wants to be healthy.

The Columbus Blue Jacket's interest in Antoine Vermette has increased as of late and Columbus scouts and GM Jay Howson was seen in Ottawa this Saturday night watching the Sens and Leafs. Ottawa has apparently shown interest in goalie Pascal Leclaire and many feel a deal could be worked out between the two sides as a 1 for 1 swap. There is no secret Ottawa still needs goaltending and Vermette hasn't exactly shined in his role in Ottawa. The Blue Jacket's would love to see Vermette playing with Rick Nash. Some pundits have put Jason Spezza as the man the Blue Jacket's want and it could even involve a multi player deal. I doubt they would shop Spezza unless they could get another big name or blue chip prospect in return. anything could happen though it's trade deadline day.
*-> Another Columbus rumor to bring out is that the Blue Jacket's have apparently called the Buffalo Sabre's organization in regards to soon to be UFA and often injured center Tim Connolly. The Buffalo Sabre's are really reluctant in trading Connolly because he has been playing extremely well as of late but they may risk loosing him this summer. The Jacket's feel he would resign with them and he would be a good fit for Nash.
*-> Rumor has it the reason the Guerin deal is taking a lot longer than expected is that there are more suitors than expected. Most teams deny interest or talking to the Islander's but that's just politics. The Montreal Canadian's have stepped into the fray as the Carolina Hurricanes. The leader though still appears to be Washington as they would like to add experience and Bill Guerin's leadership to their young core.

Ice Scoopz: Saturday Night *-> Guerin Gone In 48 Hours?
Well you can tell it's only days till the trading deadline! Every little sign or hint gets analyzed to the fullest and every name in the book gets mentioned. This is a scouts busiest time as they get to spend a frantic month watching potential trade players. I love the deadline because it's almost like Christmas. The whole month you get to be in Deadline spirit and it gets more and more exciting as it leads up to the big day. Deadline day eve you cant sleep tossing and turning thinking about what you might get. Then you wake up at ungodly hours of the morning to open your presents. After Deadline day you get left with that "as if it's over" feeling and you have to wait another 12 months again. Anyways that's my rant and there is a ton of rumors to report. I know my whole trade deadline review isn't even close to being done but I'm trying my hardest to try and get this finished by Wednesday. I've been extremely busy with my scouting course, and I also work full time. I'm trying to make this site the best possible hockey site and obviously it isn't going to happen over night. Please be patient and stick with it cause although it hasn't been the best I haven't missed a beat with rumors and am putting my heart into this! *-> Well I'll start with the headliner with Bill Guerin on the move. The Islander's have a deal in place for veteran winger Billy Guerin. Before tonight's game in which Bill Guerin is listed on the roster was pulled off the ice in the pregame warm-up by Garth Snow and the Islanders played a man short all game. This is a major trade sign as not many times does your GM pull you from a game especially during the warm-up. Many sources have reported it's not the Bruin's but IS an Eastern Conference team. Some names mention have been the Washington Capitols, The New Jersey Devils, The Montreal Canadians and the Buffalo Sabre's. I really believe it may be the New Jersey Devil's or the Sabre's. Guerin started his career with the Devil's and they have an amazing chance at winning the cup this year. They are already a veteran laden team already though. The Buffalo Sabre's need that extra veteran presence for the push and they could use leadership, something the club has been missing since Chris Drury. Keep an eye on this one!

Derek Morris who has a no-trade clause has said he'll waive it for a trade and is expected to move by Wednesday as the Coyotes try and cut costs. The Boston Bruins are considering bolstering their defense. The Calgary Flames are also expected to make a deal for Derek Morris so they can rekindle their powerplay.

Chris Pronger has announced he doesn't want to be traded but the Anaheim Duck's want to try and do a quick rebuild. Adding Ryan Whitney to the fray indicates that Chris Pronger may not be in the teams future and if he were to be shopped he would bring in a great haul. Many teams have shown interest and made calls to Anaheim but there still is much doubt to whether or not he'll be traded. St. Louis has reportedly made a big pitch to bring Pronger back to the Blues. The Blues are almost done rebuilding and could afford to loose a pick and prospect to add that grit and experience. CBC reported this rumor also and made a big connection to this deal as Pronger's wife is from St. Louis and we all know how Pronger's wife makes the call. I.E Edmonton. Don't count any other teams out though as the Sabre's and the Bruin's want his services badly. The Florida Panthers most likely will try and shop the disgruntled defenseman at the deadline. This however depends all on the number one rumored name out of Florida Mr. Jay Bouwmeester. A deal all depends on whether or not the Panthers get a good enough deal for Bouwmeester. The Cats are expecting a high calibre defenseman, a forward who can help the team out now and a 1st round pick or prospect. The Vancouver Canuck's Alexander Edler and Alex Burrows have come up. The Canucks have a lot of defensemen to spare and Burrows is an UFA this summer that the Canucks expect to leave.

The further adds to the rumors that ether Ottawa's Antoine Vermette or Toronto's Nik Antropov could be headed to the Blue Jackets. Ice Scoopz: Monday Afternoon -> Renney Fired
*-> After loosing 10 games out of the past 12 the New York Rangers have parted ways with coach Tom Renney and assistant Perry Pearn. The Rangers who have been struggling of late and risk a playoff position made the move after an overtime loss to the lowly Leafs. A replacement has yet to be hired but according to TSN's Bob McKenzie John Tortorella is most likely the head candidate for the job. Although Tampa Bay still owns the rights to Tortorella they expect to meet with him this afternoon. The New York post has claimed Jim Schoenfeld former New Jersey bench boss is expected to be named as replacement. Tortorella would be a great replacement in my mind as Tortorella is not afraid to speak his mind and would instantly fix the dressing room problems the Rangers are apparently having.
*-> Kari Lehtonen's name has been thrown about the league as of late as the Thrashers appear to be making room for prospect Ondrej Pavelec next year as they are floating Lehtonen's name out there to see what teams are interested. Lehtonen who was expected to be the next great Finn as floundered in Atlanta the past few seasons and has struggled with injuries during his tenure there. Lehtonen is a restricted free agent next season and instead of resigning him it would probably be easier to shop him now for highest value then to re-sign him. The teams interested are the Flyer's who would have to dump one of their two top goalies (most likely Nittymaki as Biron as a no trade). The Detroit Red Wings have also been linked as Chris Osgood was recently sent to the minors for a conditioning stint and Ty Conklin is not expected to resign next year. The Washington Capitols also have interest in Lehtonen but would have to find a trading partner for incosistant Jose Theodore. Finally the Ottawa Sens maybe looking to the future in net for next year and Kari Lehtonen is affordable at 3MIL$ and probably wouldn't expect that big of a raise since his performance has been flawed of late.
*-> Colby Armstrong could be heading back to Pittsburgh and reunited with Sydney Crosby very soon. Atlanta and Pittsburgh are reportedly working out a deal for Colby Armstrong who got traded to Atlanta is in the Hossa deal. Armstrong is a RFA this summer and Atlanta is disapointed with his performance so far. Pittsburgh is desperatly trying to find a winger for Crosby to somehow help their dying team. Armstrong fits the bill and has great chemistry with Sid the Kid.
*-> All rumors involving Ryan Smyth should be squashed today as he announced to the Denver Post he would not waive his no movement clause for the Colorado Avalanche not matter what. Smyth who is very happy playing in Colorado wouldn't even waive his clause he said for any team out West. This all could just be smoke and mirrors but I believe that Smyth is the kind of guy who really believes in playing for one team and one team only. He was crushed a few deadlines back when he was traded to the Islanders. Everybody remembers his tears and pain that year during his press conference. I think he'll finish out his contract unless the Colorado management tell him hes not wanted.

Trade: Comrie and Campoli To Ottawa
This morning Ottawa traded their 1st round draft pick from San Jose along with veteran Dean McAmmond to the New York Islanders for former Sen Mike Comrie and Defenseman Chris Campoli.
Ottawa addressed the need for a puck moving defensemen in acquiring Chris Campoli, Campoli who is 24 has 6 goals and 17 assists in 51 one games. Ottawa also adressed their secondary scoring issue with Mike Comrie who played for the Sens in 2007. Comrie has a disapointing 7 goals and 13 assists in 41 games this year. Comrie is also an unrestricted free agent this summer so he may just be a rental player for the stretch.
The Islanders get yet another veteran in Dean McAmmond who has 7 points in 44 games gives the Islanders so extra help with their special teams next season.
Personally I think the Sens could have paid less for Campoli but thats just me, Comrie will help the drive for playoffs quite a bit but I think in the end they'll be close but no. Campoli is a great offensive defenseman who may develop a little bit more but in the end is he first round worthy? No. I see why the Sens had to get this done and it was clearly because McAmmond wanted out. The Islanders finally get a good deal because I have a feeling Comrie is going to bolt at the end of the season back to Hilary Duff and the NYC. Ice Scoopz: Friday Late Night -> F. Kaberle On Waivers
*-> Frantisek Kaberle has been waived today by the Carolina Hurricanes. Frantisek Kaberle has struggled most of last season and this season and Carolina is desperatly trying to find a trading partner to get deal him to. So far no buyers but this might get things moving with him on waivers. Rumor has it that Carolina is close to deal and this is the first step before they can bring in another body. Kaberle most likely will be claimed as he still has a bit of value left in him and a team looking for a cheap solution may take a risk. If not expect Carolina to send him to the AHL and or put him on re-entry waivers to try and find a more budgitable solution. Teams reportedly interested are the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are desperate for some help on the blueline after loosing two defesemen in the past two weeks.
*-> Tomas Plekanec of the Montreal Canadiens was suspended today for 2 games after tripping Edmonton Oilers defenseman Denis Grebeshkov leg first into the boards. Plekanec and Grebeshkov were racing for an icing call and Plekanec took out Grebeshkov's legs and he slide leg first, getting injured on the play. Guy Carboneau believes it was a hockey play and because the player was injured that it was only called. The league saw differently.
*-> Defenseman Chris Pronger who has been the subject of many trade rumors has officially stated he does not want to be traded and will not accept any kind of trade proposal from the Anaheim Ducks so we can most likely rule any big move for Pronger out. He currently is happy in Anaheim and would like to play out the rest of his contract there.
*-> John Paddock has been silenced by Ottawa GM and former friend Bryan Murray and owner Eugene Melnyk after his anti-Murray comments this week. John Paddock came out and said it's Bryans Murray's fault for Ottawa's downfall the last few seasons. The players he has brought in aren't any good he claims and it's all the players Murray has brought in. Since Paddock is still under contract technically by Ottawa they can cease payments because of this incident but instead Ottawa's asking for Paddock to keep his comments to himself. Personally I agree with this, Ottawa has been on a steady downfall since Murray took over. Letting players like Chara and Havlat go for nothing is ridiculous. Yes Havlat for nothing as well, where is Josh Hennessy and Tom Priessing? Murray should be gone at the end of the season, and if he isn't then the Sens are in trouble this off season.

Ice Scoopz: Wednesday Evening -> Jagr Returns?
I'm currently watching the Oilers - Montreal game on Oilers PPV and I have to say that it is embarassingly bad. I cant believe they'd air some of this god awful banter, I mean I understand they want banter but some of this stuff is mindless and is making hockey look awful. One of their personalities literally spent 2 minutes just yelling out what you could wear to a game if you were a montreal fan. "A hat! A jersey! A jersey with a great player! A toque even! My goodness so many things you could use to support the Canandians!". It just confuses me to who would actually pay to watch this dribble. Thank god for Center Ice! Anyways the Habs are being beat 4-1 and they really need a change. Their playing really desperite hockey and it doesn't seam to be working. I think Bob should get on the phone and make a deal already before his club free falls off the map. Anyways on to the rumors!

The report claims that now that Visnovsky is out for season that leaves enough room to bring in the veteran winger. The report also claims that Jagr is close friends of Ales Hemsky and Hemsky has been a major influence in trying to bring him to Edmonton. I really don't believe this is true as I recently read an interview with Jagr and he claims he is happy in the KHL and would only consider moving in the summer to a NHL team possibly. Even if he were to leave or get bought opt of his KHL contract he'd have to be cleared on waivers once the Oilers signed him. He would almost certainly be claimed by most teams so I really don't think this report is true at all.

After Brodeur's recent injury the Devils need to make some room in the net for the veteran superstar. Although many people would disagree about shopping Clemmenson after his incredible stretch, I doubt the Devils would just sit Martin Brodeur and let the franchise goalie watch from the bench. They could go the route of shopping Kevin Weekes who has barely had a chance to play this season but his value is incredibly low. Clemmenson would bring in a decent reap if he was to be traded and it solves the issue of having him sit after such a good performance. Clemmenson also has an extremely cheap price tag and is affordable for any teams looking for goaltending insurance for the playoffs.
*-> Ottawa's Dean McAmmond is reportedly unhappy with his role on the Ottawa Senators. He recently told the Ottawa media that he would like to be traded if they don't want to play him in an meaniingful role. He also went on to say that if he wasn't in the teams plans then they should go ahead and see what they can get for him. These comments were after being a healthy scratch for a few games last week. These just sound like words from a frustrated player whose team was tanking at the time but Ottawa will most likely move him by the deadline. San Jose scouts were in Ottawa this week so this might be a sign that San Jose is interested in ether McAmmond or Chris Neil.

*-> The New Jersey Devils are rumored to be shopping both Kevin Weekes and Scott Clemmenson to make way for Martin Brodeur. After Brodeur's recent injury the Devils need to make some room in the net for the veteran superstar. Although many people would disagree about shopping Clemmenson after his incredible stretch, I doubt the Devils would just sit Martin Brodeur and let the franchise goalie watch from the bench. They could go the route of shopping Kevin Weekes who has barely had a chance to play this season but his value is incredibly low. Clemmenson would bring in a decent reap if he was to be traded and it solves the issue of having him sit after such a good performance. Clemmenson also has an extremely cheap price tag and is affordable for any teams looking for goaltending insurance for the playoffs.
*-> Ottawa's Dean McAmmond is reportedly unhappy with his role on the Ottawa Senators. He recently told the Ottawa media that he would like to be traded if they don't want to play him in an meaniingful role. He also went on to say that if he wasn't in the teams plans then they should go ahead and see what they can get for him. These comments were after being a healthy scratch for a few games last week. These just sound like words from a frustrated player whose team was tanking at the time but Ottawa will most likely move him by the deadline. San Jose scouts were in Ottawa this week so this might be a sign that San Jose is interested in ether McAmmond or Chris Neil.
*->Ray Emery has returned to his KHL Atlant Mystichi after his pay dispute with the clubs. Atlant Mystichi management has agreed to look into the situation and pay Emery any missing amount he has been owed. They have also stated it just was a big misunderstanding.

The I.R: Monday Evening
*-> Columbus Blue Jackets young goalie Steve Mason was placed on the IR Saturday after suffering from a viral infection while suffering from mono. He is expected to be out for atleast 2 weeks giving him time to recover.
*-> The Minnesota wild will happy to know that defenseman Kurtis Foster is almost ready to go. Foster who suffered a broken leg in a race for the puck will attempt to test out his leg in the AHL till hes ready to go. The Minnesota staff would not comment on how much longer he'll be but it is most likely going to be under 2 weeks.
*-> Tomas Vanek's of the Buffalo Sabres will be out 3 to 4 weeks with a fractured jaw suffered from a shot off the jaw. The Sabre's are going to be missing him severly and are expected to look on the market for a replacement so they may stay in the playoff picture. I guess Don Cherry's hockey gods theory was true after he said the hockey gods would get Buffalo for running up the score last week on Toronto while they had a rookie goalie Justin Pogge in net.
*-> Boston's Michael Ryder will be out for a week with a fractured bone in his cheek after being high sticked by Antoine Vermette in boston's shoot out win agains't Ottawa. This isn't a serious injured its just a precaution while they find out what Ryder has to do in order to return to action like wearing a face sheild or visor.
*-> Chris Neil of the Ottawa Senators will be miss 3 to 4 weeks with a blown knee. Chris Neil who suffered the same injury last season suffered it again in a shoot out win over Buffalo Saturday night. Neil whose stock has risen over the past few weeks has once again dropped with this injury. The Sens are hoping to get him back in action before the deadline so they may attempt to get full value for him.

Ice Scoopz: Thursday Evening
Here's a quick post and a few Ottawa\Boston rumors between periods of the Ottawa vs Boston game. It's been fairly slow so far with only Blake Wheeler scoring so far. Watching him in real life makes me really realize how much Phoenix screwed up. Not doing everything in their power to convince him to stay was a big mistake!
*-> Chris Pronger of the Anaheim Ducks has been the subject of many trade rumors in recent news. Rumors such as Pronger to Boston or Pronger to Philadelphia but these however I believe are very untrue. For one both teams are very close to the cap. Also Anaheim would most likely not part with Pronger unless they were out of the playoff picture and Francois Beauchamin 100% not resigning or Scott Niedermyer retiring. I'd say unless Anaheim is done nothing will happen.
*-> Talks for Ottawa's Chris Neil has picked up with many teams interested in his toughness and grit. The I.R: Thursday Afternoon
Alot of minor shuffling today and yesterday from/to the Injured Reserve or the AHL and here they are.
*-> The Montreal Canadians have been hit by a wave of recent injuries and now can add Chris Higgins back to that list alot though he'll most likely only miss a game or two with an agrivated upper-body injury. The good news is that big Georges Laraque will most likely be ready to put on the skates for Montreal's tilt with Toronto Saturday. Also defenseman turned forward Mathieu Dandenault will be back from his serious leg injury way sooner than expected. He is rumored to be back early next week. Patrice Briesbois who is also out with an undisclosed injury which would most likely be his ankle should be ready to play again next week as well.
*-> The Canadians have also sent down defenseman Alex Henry back to Hamilton after playing two games.
*-> The Buffalo Sabres have activated veteran defenseman Teppo Numminen from the injured reserve and sent down defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani to the Portland Pirates.
*-> The Ottawa Senators have returned center Peter Regin to the juinior Sens and recalled winger Ryan Shannon for tonights game against Boston.
*-> The Blue Jackets have reactivated Russian young gun Nikita Filitov but then sent him down to Syracuse of the AHL.
*-> The Carolina Hurricanes have ran into some injury trouble down the stretch on their Western tour lossing both Rod Brind'Amour and grinder Scott Walker. Walker who was placed on the I.R today is out with an undisclosed upper body injury while Brind'Amour continues to suffer from a bad back. Walker is expected to be atleast while a week while Brind'Amour is only expected to miss the last leg of the trip. Replacement Jakub Petruzalek was called up from Albany.
*-> The Toronto Maple Leaf's have done another up and down shuffle involving Justin Pogge after leaving him out to dry againts the Sabres last night. Justin Pogge was sent down to the Marlies today after just one day in the show. The Buds countered by bringing back up Jonas Frogren after just sending him down yesterday with tough guy Andre Deveaux.
*-> The Phoenix Coyotes have recalled Kevin Porter and forward Jeff Hoggan from San Antonio of the AHL while sending down LW Steven Goertzen and former Sen Alexander Nikulin. The Desert Dogs have also activated Viktor Tikhonov from the IR but chose to send him down to San Antonio for some conditioning.
